Rustybob
What is the difference between a 70 Monte carlos instrumentation ( guage cluster) and say one from a 71 or 72? I am looking for a 70 yet all I find is 71&
MC1of80
Hi Bob. The main difference is the gauge lettering/number colors. The 71-72s are white and the 70 is greenish. Floor shifters don't have the P-R-N-D-2-1 at the bottom of the speedometer where column shifted Montes do.
Rustybob
Oh cool so I can buy a 71/2 and swap the good speedo I have and then just look for individual gauges thank you
Rob Peters
Bob, Tom is correct on the difference in the color of the lighting between the 70 and the 71/72. You mention "Gauge Cluster". The Monte's came standard with idiot lights rather than gauge's. The major differences in the Gauge Clusters would be in the Tach, if it is a big block or a small block in the red-line. I think everything else was pretty much the same. rob
Leghome
If you go from idiot lights to gauges you need to change the circuit board on the back of the cluster
