sendo
hello, staring to put this car back together and connected the battery and my fan was on when I turned it off it blew the fuse(a/c tsc sol) put in another fuse and it blew a soon as I turned on the ignition. If I turn the fan on before replacing the fuse it works in all speeds, but as soon as I switch to off the fuse blows, anyone have a clue? thanks, Sendo
72 Monte Carlo
It sounds like you either have a direct short in the fan speed switch, or a pinched wire that is shorting to ground.
Rob Peters
Just a little clarification. The off switch you are talking about.... You are not talking about the fan switch itself, right? When I first read your post I thought you were referring to the blower switch that operates up and down but since you said when you move it to "off" it blows a fuse. Since the blower switch does not have an "OFF" position I suspect you are talking about the upper selector switch which operates left to right/right to left. If that is the case it sounds like a direct short in that switch or the wiring to it. rob

sendo
think I found it, missing this tab on the switch on my old unit so its grounding out it the off position. will install this rebuilt one this weekend and see if it goes away.
