201fireman
I have Autometer electric gauges and it calls for the oil pressure sending unit shown in the link below. Where would this mount on a 489 where it wouldn't be in the way? https://www.summitracing.com/parts/atm-2242
MC1of80
Small block or big block? Small block- behind the intake near the distributor. Big block- above the oil filter. Both are stock locations for the factory unit. Just replace the factory for the aftermarket.
201fireman
Gotcha. It's a big block. I will look above the filter. I just wasn't sure if this was too big to go there. Thanks a ton... again! Now if I can find a set of headers that work that aren't $1,600 that would be great.
MC1of80
I have the ole hooker super comp headers. 2in primaries and 3.5 collectors. Fit fine. No denting or squashing of tubes.
201fireman
I like the sound of that. Got a part number? What is your car? Mine is a 72 small block with A/C. I am swapping out for the 489 and not using the A/C (if that matters).

MC1of80
Take pictures!!! 😁 For some reason I thought I had super comps. The part number is 2455HK. They have the same primary size-2" and collector size-3.5" as the super comps. But looking at the pics they are 2455HK.
201fireman
Thanks a ton. I was looking at the two below over the winter so if that worked for you, one of them will work for me. Setting the motor in this weekend, then the work begins with the wiring, trans, fuel system, etc. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hok-2455-2hkr/make/chevrolet/year/1972/model/monte-carlo https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hok-2455-1hkr/make/chevrolet/year/1972/model/monte-carlo
201fireman
Any word or opinion either way on header studs? Stainless or not?
