AJ1970
Hey everyone - new guy question what’s this hanging down from my transmission? I just noticed it after the first drive of the year. Looks like it came loose from something. Thanks!
MC1of80
Hey Andrew. That is for the transmission kick down/passing gear. That end is supposed to be connected to the carburetor throttle linkage. You have a th350 transmission. The large end is supposed to be locked into a bracket, usually bolted to the intake, driver's side next to the distributor. Also noticed you most likely have a b&m aftermarket floor shifter. Lolol
AJ1970
Thank you! Appreciate the quick reply- Guess it’s not needed... here’s the floor shifter.
MC1of80
Nice shifter. You're welcome. The cable is needed if you want passing gear. When your in 3rd gear and floor it, the cable makes the trans drop down a gear and away you go. Without it, you will have to manually downshift to get the same effect. Unlike an overdrive auto transmission, the th350 cable not being connected will not burn up the trans.
