Older I Get...

The faster I want to go.

I've had this Malibu since 1996 and I sold it off three years ago. It was a 505, Th400, and an 8.5 GN rear. The guy never paid me all the asking price, so I repoed it a month ago. Pretty much stripped. Motor, trans, and rear were gone. Me and my bud threw a 72 Buick 8.5 in it with a set of road wheels to winch it on my trailer. If I would have found it three years ago, I would have gotten it back then.

The second incarnation is going to be a little faster. This time an 815 hp Blueprint 632, an FTI race TH400, and a 3.25 Torsen 9 inch with 35 spline axles.  Just waiting on FTI to ship.

And there will be ode to CrazeyDavey in it. The convertor I'm using is his old Coan that he went 9.60 in his 67 Malibu.

Sounds like you are building another wicked street machine, Andy!  Wonder how you will hook all that HP (and torque) to the pavement?

Really appreciated your tribute to CrazyDavey - this club suffered a real loss at his passing, IMO.  Do you possibly know what became of his white '67 Chevelle - just wonder if it was retired or if someone else is campaigning it on the west coast?  Doubt anyone could make it go faster than Davey did!  Also wonder what became of his wife's black '72 W code Monte - hope it is still in circulation.

Dennis, not sure where the Malibu or Monte went. I know Davey sold the 72W car before he passed. I saw Dal Trubey had the 67 for sale on TeamChevelle and Racing Junk but that was at least five years ago. I would be proud to own either.

I used to intraweb race him a lot with his old parts when Straub and Foxwell got ahold of those 502s. In fact, the second pic has those Bowties and Nascar intake off the Chevelle. I always had the advantage as that old 81 Malibu was 3140 pounds with my 300 pounds in it, and I was always nitrous happy.

Davey is and will always be a personal hero of mine. Remember his original username? Reds72Monte. I joined here around 2006 and got to know him. And bugged him for months to change it to CrazeyDavey. Never seen a 67 Malibu before that could wheelie on a 10.80 pass like that, and it only got better when went mid 9s.
