After 30 years, it’s almost done.

I bought this 71 SS about 32 years ago. Needed full restoration, but it’s a all numbers matching car. Finished in the original Rosewood Metallic with Sandalwood cloth interior. Just a few things left to finish.

Wow, she's gorgeous, Mark, well done!!  That's such an unusual color combo but very appealing - love the sandalwood interior. 32 years is a long time to stay with any project so congratulations on your perseverance.  I see you work for Boeing.  I also worked for them as a student engineer in the Wichita operation from '66 to '68.  Welcome to the club and forums.  Hope to see more of your beautiful SS in the future.  Enjoy!

Beautiful. I hope to see it at a Western Meet some day.

That’s the exact colour combination my 71 SS was from the factory. The vinyl top was removed many years ago a few owners back. The prior owner already had a freshly painted Rosewood 71 Monte so when my car got repainted he chose another 1971 colour (Classic Copper).

WOW!!

what a beauty!!

Do you have any info on the previous owners? build sheet?

If so....Could a past owner have been "Rich G"?

Reason I ask, a club member I met years ago from Tacoma described a similar Monte SS he owned when he lived out there. The same interior and exterior colors if memory serves me.  He let it go at the time due to rust.

He since relocated back east probably 10 years ago, with his 70 4 Speed 402 Monte. just wondering if by chance this could be his old car.

I bought it in Everett from a guy named Mike or Mark Murphy. The car was bone stock. Original rally wheels and air cleaner. No chrome additions or anything.
I do have the build sheet. I found one on top of the gas tank, and the other one under the driver side bucket seat.
The car was originally sold from Frontier Chevrolet in Billings, Montana.

Like Dave C said, my first Monte was a 71 SS454 in Rosewood but it was a black vinyl top and black cloth bench seat. It originally came from Ohio, I bought it in Pa. lived in Illinois for a while then on to Tacoma, Wa. I was going to have it painted in 1981 and when I started taking it apart found out how rusty it was. I was low ranking military at the time so not a lot of cash and no repo sheet metal was out yet. I already had a 70 402 4 speed car I bought at Chuck Olsen Chevrolet in North Seattle so I wound up just selling it off. Still have the 2 build sheets for it. Still LOVE that Rosewood color!

Hey Mark Thanks for the info. She sure is beautiful, but i don't think the comp is doing the color justice. She looks like classic copper in the picture to me. None the less she is truly beautiful.

Classic copper has more orange in it.
