Windshield Pillar Repair/Replace ....

Mike Brichta

Recommended Posts

Well, after some sand blasting, I see that the windshield pillar on my 70 El Camino might need some repair.  I believe the pillars are the same for El Caminos, Montes and Chevelles.

Has anyone replaced theirs before?  Is there someone out there that makes a replacement part for the pillars?

Thanks!!
Mike

You are correct that the Chevelle, Monte Carlo parts are the same. So are any non convertible GM a-bodys from 68-72. ir cutlass, lemans, 442, gto, skylark,GS and the such. I would try joevega, azchevies he usually has a few clean cut out examples.

Looks like Belden recently added the front repair parts for the 66-67 A bodies. As Steve said, worth a call to them, they may already have some, or can make some for you.

They don't show a phone number anywhere, but I have it at home. When I get home from work tomorrow, I'll get it for you.

If you have a way to brake a strip of sheet metal at a crisp 90 degrees you can make those sections yourself. If you need to repair the channel that runs the length of the windshield a shrinker/stretcher will help provide the correct shape.
