RH 70 72
Replacing the Gas Tank in my 70. Looking at the 2020 OPGI Catalogue Page 100. For the 70 Tank Kit, there are two choices, w/o vents and w/return. Any insight on these options? Existing tank attached. TY, Bob
Mike Brichta
It looks like the one pictured has no vents and does have a return. Hope that help!! Mike
RH 70 72
Mike, yup, TY. I was hoping to gain an understanding of the difference between the original tank designs.
Rob Peters
Did you find a Build Sheet on top of the old tank? rob
cny first gen 71
What's wrong with that tank? Is it leaking somewhere or bottom damaged. I'd rather have an OEM tank than a replacement. Mine wasn't bad at all I cleaned it up and painted it looks like new.
MC1of80
The tank itself has no vents or return lines. The gas tank sending unit does. I agree with cny first Gen 71. If the original is usable, by all means use it. My 70 has an aftermarket tank in it. At the time the only tank made for the Monte was the 71-72 tank. It has a vent/return line nipple at both corners of the tank. I used rubber caps to block the vents. Needless to say, every year they have to be changed due to them rotting and leaking. Nothing rubber is made like it used to be.

Tank has a hole in it, or I would keep it in the car.

RH 70 72
Steve, looked at patching it, but a new one is the right way to go.
