Welcome to the best place to see how your SS was built!! "Nice save" as I would say. There are some members down your way. I have a goo friend in  Ocala that is restoring a '72 Custom. Looks like a very good start on a SS!!post-259-0-61935100-1474727657_thumb.jpg

Thank you. Hopefully some of the documented original pics I will be/am posting here will help everyone with there future Monte Carlo restoration endeavors.
I used to live in Ocala, great place!

Congrats on joining the group. It’s well worth it. Your car looks a lot like mine did. Complete, little rust but no good rubber. Mine came from California. It’s definitely been a fun experience and I have a very long way to go. I hope you have fun like I am. Don’t think of it as a project think of it as a parts searching adventure. Keep the pics coming

So I’m not trying to highjack your thread but I wanted you to see something that you REALLY need to avoid. This is my basement now keep in mind that I used to have a full service auto shop so all that is down here too. Plus day to day basement stuff. Please have a proper place to do your restoration because OBVIOUSLY I don’t. There was an order to these pictures but they didn’t load that way. Some are in the upstairs bedroom,Karen’s not happy, and more to go up as the parts get finished. Remember this is what you DONT want to do. I tried to just do a video but it wouldn’t load

Looks ok to me 🤣 but it looks like you got a few extra coolers there taking up much needed space for parts. I'm sure Karen isn't pleased with it right now but she will when it's all done.  Sounds like you got a keeper there!

Not talking up space when filled with parts. 😂

Hey Dennis I’m not worried, maybe I can fill up my 25 year old daughters bedroom and she will get the hint LOL😁. But in all honesty I do have the space and a full shop, this is my 6th frame off restoration. I’m finishing up a 68 El Camino SS 396/350 that is triple black with bucket seats console and original Muncie 4 speed. So it may be a bit before I tackle the Monte but when I do I’ll be all in. Looking forward to it. Thx for the cool pics👍

Well heck Bill. If I would have known you were a professional restorer I wouldn’t have bothered. You already know, have and understand what It takes.

I don’t do it professionally, it’s just a hobby that got out of control, happens to a lot of us I guess. But it keeps my after work hours and weekends full that’s for sure. It may take me 4-6 years to finish a car because of my work and money — typical I guess. Here’s a few pics of my other restored cars:

Thanks Bob!

I had damn near every room in the house, basement,  and shop full of Monte parts for the last 2 years too. It's nice when you start seeing the rooms empty out and the car start taking some resemblance of an automobile again.

I can’t find nothing. I put stuff away to good and then can’t find it

I’m working on the rooms too.

That's the WORST. I can't tell you how many hours I spent looking for stuff during re-assembly. I was like Rain Man too, going to the same places multiple times hoping for different results. A lot of the times it was pretty close to those spots though. Just remember, it's not lost.....it's just in the last place you put it! It's getting worse as I get older too.
