Bert Powers
Starting a frame up restoration of a 71 we have had for about 20 years. Frame is badly rusted under the front doors. Looking for a stock frame, any suggestions?
cny first gen 71
Bert, the frames are the same for all 3 years and monte carlo only. They pop up every now and then. Hector may have one, he did a while back. Jared may also be able to help you. Good luck with it and we love pictures take lots of them. Dtret
My advice is to buy a donor car. You see them on Craigslist and Facebook marketplace all the time. Don’t forget about this. Google. searchtempest. Load the parameters you want and search most all of Craigslist. If you get a decent donor there will be other parts you can use or sell.
Glen
Dtret makes a ton of sense. Buy a decent donor and you’ll surely be happy you did when you’re scrambling for a bolt or clip or... whatever, and you can pull it from the donor instead of trying to find it at the local parts store. These parts will fit without issues way before some remanufactured, made in China piece of garbage will. Happy hunting and keep us all posted with plenty of pictures. Dtret
Bert Let me know if you call Jared’s reference in Ohio. The 937 area code looks like it’s within an hour of me. I can check it out for you.
MC-71
I always had a donor Monte in my driveway. That is how I restored my 71.
72RustBucket
Aaron Durflinger in Cantril, Iowa had several first gens for parts. Usually has some Facebook Marketplace ads up. Not sure if this link will work. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/838517207017856/?ref=product_details&referral_code=undefined
