D N Monte
Hi everyone, just purchased this 72 Monte in Missouri, one owner. It has the original wheels and hubcaps original tire size was a G 78 I want to go back with the original tire size what would the modern-day equivalent be? Also I want to put the Rally wheels on... for 1972 Monte Carlo Factory rally would have been 15 x 7 is that right?
cny first gen 71
I believe 15x7 with a 4 inch backspace was stock from factory on rally rims. Also I believe 225-70 would be close to original. A lot of us have gone to 60 series tires for stance and handling. There is a tire and wheel thread somewhere on here that can tell you anything you ever need to know about tires and wheels. I have 235-60 on the front and 255-60 on the rear 7 inch rims with 4 inch bs on front, 8 inch rims on rear with 4.5 bs. It's all a matter of personal preference. Canuck
A 225/70/15 would be close to the original g78-15. The original rally wheel size was 15x7 with 4.25” backspacing. This is a fairly common rally wheel size.
420ponies
This looks really close to what I started with. The color reminds me of what it looked liked when I purchased mine. Except for the bench seat, really close to it. What mine looks like now.
