Deja Vu...

Recommended Posts

Finally took Big Red out to a show today, my 70 SS. My brother finally took his 71 SS to it's first show today.

Now mind you, neither car has seen the light of day since September  2020. Shame on us! We made it a point today to take them out and go to a show.

My son took his 69 lemans 400/m22 convertible and a friend took his 70 383/4speed super bee 🐝 that also hasn't been out since September 2020.

We all cruised to an AACA show held in Staten Island.

Big Red got a first place trophy! Seems to be, one show a year, one trophy 🏆. This was the 2nd ever show I entered and 2nd first place trophy.

My brother won a second place trophy in his first show since getting his 71 SS! I feel he should have won first and me second.

We are both floored to have won a trophy at all. There were about 150 cars in the show.

Congrats on the trophies.... Others are right, they not only need to come out more, they need to come to Carlisle for the FGMCC 2021 Eastern meet in Carlisle, Pa in June.

Am I to assume their SS’s both have the ultra rare RPO ‘GBIT’ (Go Back In Time) option?  😂🤣

  • 1 month later...

Also installed a deep groove alternator pulley. While "playing around" on the street a few times she threw the belt. Never at the track though.

Not only do I loose the charging system but also the water pump. So while I was at it, I added a belt from the crank to the water pump to the p/s pump. So if the belt falls off again, at least I can drive it to get in a better place to reinstall the belt.

I don't think I need it now with the deep groove pulley on the alternator. I tested it today. Lolol So far so good.

Since the car was originally A/C  equipped I used the empty groove that the a/c belt would have.

Now finally the show! Lol. Over 450 cars today.  Nice day, better times! Lolol

Today we took Big Red with the "track mode" wheels and our 84 Cavalier. The Cavalier hasn't been out in over 4 years. Stretching her legs was fun!! Lol

Needless to say it was the only Cavalier there and Big Red was the only Monte Carlo.

We had a parade to and from the show with friends in their 67 Chevelle and 65 GTO. All the cars were red and we definitely stopped traffic! Lolol

A few friends met us there with their mopars. Lol A 68 Road Runner, 71 Demon and 69 Charger.

Spoke to a few Monte Carlo people. Told them about the site here. We'll see what happens....

After I got my original 70 Monte in September of 1970 a good friend a 71 SS454.  The only complaint he had with his SS454 is the alternator belt kept coming off.
