stangeba
Interesting topic. I found the paperwork from when I had "Carburetor Shop" in Ontario, Ca. rebuilt my 71 350 Qudrajet, in 1993 for $186.91 TOTAL! It included, Stage 1 Rebuild, new bushings and a color restore! It lists the carb ID# as 7041202 and it has: Primary Jet 74 Primary Rod 44B Secondary Rod AR
Dtret
You’re just trying to kick me again. I paid double that for a paperweight. Yours probably works too.

stangeba
Sorry, I wasn't even thinking of that just got me to look at the old paperwork I still have. Yes it runs fine, and like all others after sitting a week the fuel is all gone and it takes about 12 seconds of cranking to fill it and then it starts. I just changed out the body of the carb as the threads for the filter area were damaged. I’m hoping I can repair the original body that has the right date code. Both carbs are 7041200. Glen
I had to run back out to the garage reading this thread. I knew my car had a Rochester, but after looking at the protect-o-plate I noticed it had a “C” for carb type. And upon checking “Chevrolet by the numbers”, I learned that Carter built Rochester four barrel carbs. Observe…
Glen
Question: does the “Non-CA” designation mean for cars that won’t be initially REGISTERED in California? (Like some cars had to have the Cali-mandated smog pumps). Because my girl was Van Nuys built but delivered to the dude who special ordered her in Chandler, Arizona. I believe the “Non-CA” depends on where the car is delivered (outside Cali) and not where it is built. one of my carbs is also a Carter. The picture showing your Carter built Qjet shows it is a 1970 carb. 7040200 in 1970 were on small blocks. You are correct in your later post that 1971 big blocks used 7041200 for automatic cars. I was in error saying your carb should be number 7041204 because its for a corvette which always had a higher HP rating. Hope this helps. Chevy Dave
The 7040200 is not a small block carb. According to the 1970 service manual It was used on 1970 big blocks with automatic transmissions.
