Blue 1972 350-4bbl

Crom Cruach

Recommended Posts

Hi all, new member here. I have just bought an all-original '72 which apparently has been sitting in a basement since 1982. One owner from new. The body looks excellent, the interior needs some love (and some steering wheel cork tape or a new wheel!). Even has the original am/fm radio. Matching numbers VIN and doorplate, although the seller says he would have to remove the alternator to get at the engine number. What is a reliable website to check the VIN number and car history out? thanks.

Body tag checks out except for one thing, it looks like It used to have a back vinyl top! The seller said it was painted before storage in '82 - was this common, to remove a vinyl cover and paint?

Year '72

Assembled in Baltimore

Interior Blue Cloth

Bench Seat

Mulsanne Blue

Upper Black vinyl

Built 3rd week in August (bought on 31st August in Tennessee, the paint was barely dry!)

Welcome! Very nice car you found. Looks like it just needs a good cleaning.

As you discovered with the body tag it did have a black vinyl top from the factory. Some people decide to remove them when they repaint either for a different look or just to prevent having rust issues. My 71 had a vinyl top but was also removed.

Welcome to the club!! Ireland you say, would be great to see one on road over there .paint code 26 mulsanne blue is the name. Mine has the 26 code ,but I painted it Corvette Nassau Blue. More metal flake in it. If you need a good condition steering wheel I have my original you can have for shipping cost.post-259-0-93319100-1480263543_thumb.jpg. That is very generous James, mind your fingers while I bite your hand off!

Will I PM my home address for a postage quote etc?

Beautiful car by the way. What’s your interior spec?

Mine? My interior has the black strato buckets ( driver side power bucket seat),console, tilt wheel, rear defrost, power windows. AM radio gone ,aftermarket CD player (don't mind) dash was already cut. I'm in the process of doing the gauge conversion for the tach. I like that you have the bumperettes on yours. Your VIN should have the J in for the 4 bbl.

Welcome Paul!!  Great looking car, I imagine there’s not too many of them cruising around Ireland. Now if only she were green…

Nearly bought an Inverness green Mercury Cougar XR7  until this grabbed my attention! Funny enough, over here a green classic might be associated with British racing green, say a Jaguar, so maybe the only case where green is not very Irish :)
