drive shaft/yoke length

Is it possible that the difference just might be in the different ways they are being measured? I would measure center of u joint hole to center of u joint hole. Leave the yoke out of the picture. Doing that mine measured just a hair over 54 inches.

Yes, mine is like that and the spline starts 2" in from the end. My drive shaft measures 53 1/2 center to center. 55" would get me where it should be and I am guessing using the yoke you have would only give me an inch. The other option is to use a yoke from 4L60E (might be the wrong one) one of these trans use the same spline but splined to the end, the other option is to get a transfer case yoke from80s4 wheel drive which are splined ti the end and longer. A new drive shaft is $400.00 plus. Trying to sort out what happed to mine to end up the way it did?
