Remember when?

Recommended Posts

I had a 68 Nova That I had shackles and air shocks on with chrome reversed rally wheels. I had to take the car to a frame shop to have the rear end alighned so the tires did not get cut with the rolled lips on the quarters. That little car car like a scalded rat.  It had a 350 horse 327 and close ratio 4 speed with 3:73 posi. I tcame with 7.35 X 14 tires that only lasted 6,800 miles. Those were the days my friend and I thought they would never end oh those were the days. Then I smartened up and ordered a 1970 Monte on September 20th 1969

I've had air shocks on a few cars, my 64 elcamino my 77 camaro and my monte. Didn't really jack them up to much. The monte I hardly have any air in them and they will come off when I get around to it. Have new springs and spacers in now to get it where it's happy. The camaro I raised it up a bit. But never that much.

that brings back memories-   if it was "jacked up in the back"   somehow we thought of it as a really "cool' car  -   probably ridiculous -  but in 1977 we said did and thought alot of   ridiculous     but yes we had more fun than responsibilities...and after 4 plus decades the pendulum of life is swinging back in that direction.. but nothing is getting 'jacked up in the back' anymore...only maybe my pants ...they do droop sometimes1

At least they didn't hack the quarter panels to fit the tires like alot did back then also. Lolol either air shocks or hacked fender wells. Ahhhh the days! Lolol

I can't tell you how many wheel well lips were curled under and hammered flat, just to fit thos N50 Mickey Thompson tires!

I would say mid 80's I put Delta 88 springs and air shocks that I got from my cousin's junkyard in the back of my Monte which raised it up above my 28" tall tires. Now I went a different route in the front and installed Moroso hi lift drag springs (bright yellow). It sat kinda like a 4x4...rode extremely stiff, lol

I've owned two f--d's and the first oe a 59 Cheapo 2 door sedan 6 cyl. automatic that we never did get the heater to put out any heat even in the summer and a 1984 Escort wagon That ran great when I test drove it and after buying never ran good again. Only reason for the Escort was my oldest daughter thought it was cute and it was supposed to be her car. Never again at least I hope ot
