I believe the distributor vacuum line is the same for both. Both we’re missing this item, and the repo from parts place seems close but not correct. The end going to the electric solenoid goes too far. Does anyone have an original that I can get measurements, traceing or pictures? Or better yet bring to upcoming convention. 1970 and 1972 are different. If anyone has an original they would be willing to sell that would be great too. Thanks Jerry

This is a picture of barn find which appears to have an original vacuum tube. Sorry about the boat picture, I’m not very good at navigating the process of posting. LOL

By the looks of “ barn find” the metal line does not go to the vacuum advance. The advance tees off and goes to the solenoid and carb. I don’t know where the metal line goes by the distributor. I’ll need to know when I put my quadrajet back on ( once I can get it to work).

The chassis is pretty much done, the body is stripped and in body shop for paint. Aaron thanks for the picture, I believe in the picture of barn find you can see the tube goes all the way to the solenoid with just a one inch hose to connect.

Your right Dennis, but I believe originally it had a hose going from the distributor vacuum can to the vacuum tube and then to the inboard vacuum connection on the solenoid with a short one inch hose. Did your 71 have a vacuum tube when you got it?

I remember changing the small original hoses at the gas tank. I almost threw away this blue plastic restrictor that was stuck inside of one of the hoses.

No it didn’t. It was all apart. But I ended up buying the Holley because the quadrajet wouldn’t work ( after it was rebuilt) so I didn’t have to mess with this part of it. But I will eventually. I’ll have to get the quad rebuilt again to figure out what the original guy did wrong. I’ll probably just do it myself at some point. It’s on the pos 70 right now.

Dennis, I sent both of my carbs to custom rebuilt carb 732-356-4333 Middlesex NJ They both look great, and the one works well on my chassis. Bruce, now you have me wondering. I know I cleaned up the 3 fuel lines but haven’t looked for the plug.
