jft69z
This is the calculation form my driveshaft builder uses. He wants the measurements to be within 1/8" when completed, to avoid vibration, etc. https://www.dennysdriveshaft.com/app/webroot/img/File/how_to_measure_diagrams/b.html

jft69z
53 minutes ago, Batman said: but how do i measure the one i have to make sure it is right? This site has some measurements listed as you scroll down. It would make a difference what type of u-joint you have, as well as the slip yoke used. It doesn't appear they list it by a center to center of the u-joints alone. Maybe someone here has that number. Worst case, call Denny's, they're usually pretty good explaining things. https://www.alldrivelines.com/1968-1972-chevelle-malibu-aluminum-drive-shaft-500-h-p-complete/ What transmission was in the car, T-350 or 400? Batman
it had a t350. is there a certain amount the yoke should stick out of tail shaft once installed? 1" maybe. u joint is correct.
cbolt
The stock one should work just fine on your swap to a 200r4. I reused mine when I made that same swap, and thousands of miles later it is still doing all that driveshaft stuff it is supposed to do. That is the beauty of the 200r4, no additional modifications required.
Batman
thanks
jft69z
The 200R4 is the only one with the exact same length dimension of 27 - 11/16" as a T350 (as long as it has a 6" tail shaft), which is good in your case. https://www.tciauto.com/trans-dim
420ponies
Stock drive shaft from Turbo 350 trans will work no problem. Plus you leave your cross member in the same position as the TH 350. That Engineer was a genius!
Scott S.
I had to move my cross member back 6", but there are holes already drilled in the frame for this. The frame was used in several drive train configurations, so G.M. planned ahead. The only other issue may be the balancing collar on the yoke interfering with the 200r4's tail housing. But that can be trimmed for clearance.
