This is what we were able to watch Saturday in  North Myrtle Beach.

The air force pilots were seemingly having a good time buzzing the balloon, there was 6 of them ,  they would come in 2 at a time.  You could tell by the speed alone, this was definitely military.  Very quick U-turns and a rather impressive vapor trail.

Must have been fun watching that.

Brings back memories of when I was a kid and we vacationed at a campground (Lake Arrowhead Camp Ground)  in North Myrtle.  There was an military air base in the area and I think they flew A-10's out of it.

Flying bird kites was a big thing for the people camping in the campground.  There were shops all over the place selling these kites and on any given day there were maybe 15 to 20 kites in the air.  As a game we would see how high we could get these kites and once up we would have a contest race.  Once we had our kites up with the approximate same length of string we would attach a piece of aluminum foil to the string and all at the same time release the piece of foil to see whose piece of foil would make it up the line to the kite.  One day we had about 10 of us it this aluminum foil race and all of a sudden a chopper from the air base was hovering around our kites.  The chopper had a loud speaker and we were  ordered to lower the kites and remove the foil.... It seems the base radar picked up all of these blips of foil and they had to fly out to see what was goin on.

Michael, thanks for sharing your video of the planes buzzing the balloon.

not give the advertising group any  ideas...seems they occupy almost every inch of available space as it is!!!   haha might be too late!!
