Paul Bell Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 This little book I have here says 7040500, same as the Chevelle 360HP 454 with automatic transmission. Of course, any of these little books could be wrong..... BUT I did find some instances of the number here that may confirm it: www.nhra.net/tech_specs/engine/blueprints/CHEV-70.rtf
71454SS Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 There is also a repair kit out there for the threads on the carb intake.
Jim Boczar Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 The above number is correct if your car was originally a California car, if not then the correct quadrajet number would be 7040200.
Mo's70MCs Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 There is also a repair kit out there for the threads on the carb intake. Perfect parts is one supplier that I know of. PP Pg101 underhood
Dans '70 Z20 Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I know those built for CA (since emissions CA only in 70) were 7040200 and all others throughout country were the 7040500 as listed above. Specialized investments (used to be TX I belive moved to FL)has a few of the 7040200 carbs. He had a friend who closed his carb shop in CA and he bought what inventory he had left. Nice guy. If you need help with number I have it here somewhere. Dan
Guest gene Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 my carb already had the repair oversize inlet on it . i would guess a good rebuilt quadrajet is going to set me back about 350.00-400.00. gene
