Ron Tevis Posted May 7, 2024 Author Posted May 7, 2024 UPDATE!!!. Repaired wiring early Sunday morning while cool in attic, removed blower housing and motor, cleaned , then cleaned slope coil. Both were yucky and I replace filters regularly.. wife retired from hvac distributors , they had the blower relay circuit board in stock. Got wholesale price. Installed it this evening.. unit working great now.. we suspect it was the three power interruptions in a row the recc did that same day. On off on off on off bam bam bam. SURGE! Pow 💥 ⚡️.. was hot that day, seems to me they already can’t keep the grid working properly as they have discontinued coal generation. could have turned it into insurance but humidity terrible here this week so I went ahead and did the repairs myself.. and yes, we were very blessed we were home . Going to research a whole home surge protector!!. Thanks for the thoughts guys.. 5 Quote

Rob Peters Posted May 8, 2024 Posted May 8, 2024 Keep in mind that Ron was a Sears Appliance repair guy. Many of the heating and air conditioning units have diagnostics built into the circuit boards. I was trained in heating and air conditioning many years ago but like automobiles of today the H-Vac units have also become much more electronic and computer based now. Ron doesn't how hot it was up in that attic where that unit was but he was working in a humid attic at about 110 degrees, sweating his keister (among other things) off. I talked to him after he was done. rob 5 Quote

Also like Steve said 90 degrees and humid as heck!! It was 91 here today & I put in a 23 mile bicycle ride (shorter than planned, took a different route today), plus a couple of good sized bridges over the Niagara River to cross.... Then got to see a truck wedged under one of those bridges on the way back. 2 Quote
willie Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 That truck thing is a common occurrence down here on the parkways!! Down here no trucks on parkways, this is why!!! And i am still melting had to take a break and sit in the a/c for awhile with drinking my water.. Joe i hope you are drinking plenty of water with 23 miles under your belt!?!?!? 4 Quote

They crash into that bridge all the time, both ways. Low clearance, marked in multiple spots, but happens at least half dozen times a year, if not more. 4 Quote

Rob Peters Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 In the last few hours the temperature dropped here from 23 degrees 93 to 69. I was just outside for a few minutes and it is actually a little chilly after the temps we have had lately. rob 1 Quote

We could really use the rain. I cut our yard a couple days before we left for Carlisle and have not had to cut it again since because we haven't had rain since about a week before we left for Carlisle except for a sprinkle. rob 1 Quote
cny first gen 71 Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 I guess there was some pretty serious damage not far from me but I'm ok. We needed the rain but not a couple inches in an hour or so and flash flooding. They are investigating for a few areas where tornado type damage happened. But so far no serious injuries reported. 1 Quote
Montemedic Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Enjoy the temperature change while you have it. Mother Nature does not fool around. Glad you have no issues Steve. 2 Quote
