OK people...

 

you have showed this before, I want to replace my March alternator brackets, I keep throwing belts, yes I have the deep pulley.

 

I have seen some low and mid mounts (stock location now) what do you people have????

 

I think Scott Heck & Greg have showed them before

I have CSR low mount brackets for the alternator. Power steering is also CSR.

I have a Billet Specialties part #135-FM2221PC on my truck.

No problems with belts yet.

that's what I'm looking for but for a standard belt, and I don't need billet either, just want it to keep the belt put @ 7000 RPM lol

No reason to spin a pig block to 7000 grand .... it won't last lol

I'm looking for a mid mount for the alt I think Scott Heck has the one I'm thinking of

 

I'm not throwing the belt until about 6000+ RPM, I have put a smaller crank pulley on it to slow down the alternator, haven't got to run it yet, and I hate that smaller pulley, cooling/charging issues with it, was just hoping to get different brackets without having to spend a small fortune, I still want that 8" Coan converter

Can't see winding a big block to 7000 grand. The BB that I have, they say nothing over 6000 grand. How is the BB built to go 7000 grand?

probably cause you have stock rods

 

I have a Scat forged crank,6.385 eagle h beam rods, JE forged pistons, and a huge solid roller cam, all balanced out to perfection, doing a burnout it SNAPS to 7000 in a blink of a eye, you can hear it if you click on the burnout video below

I have the march bbc serp system I tried to stay with V belts but no luck. I have had my big block to about 7100, basically the same bottom as sams with a good balance. If your machine shop told you not to go over 6000 you probably have 3/8 rod bolts.

Good factory big block rods had 7/16 boron rod bolts and were very heavy on the big end of the rod.

Hey Sam, sorry it took me so long! Here is my bracket setup, it is the mid-mount from Allen Grove. Moving it lower to the mid-mount setup does make the belt shorter which might help to not throw it--just my guess. Mine will hold the belt on up to 6400, but I can't say what would happen if mine went to 7k! I would assume the belt might stay on, but my rods would probably land on the moon! lol

Does anyone sell stock-style serpentine pulleys that will directly replace v-belt pulleys? I'd like to keep all my mounting brackets stock and still use my clutch fan. I'm not interested in billet- stamped steel would be fine!

Holy cow! Those are some of the coolest things I've seen in a long time! I wish they could make a set that included power steering though!

I never seen that before.. cool

 

Although that was at a high idle I would have liked to seen it revved up to at least 6000.

If you check out the website, they have a version that includes a pulley for the power steering..

why not just run a 3" wide gilmer belt? smile

It looks as if they don't have a power steering version for us "long water pump" folks.

 

Getting back to topic, my parts book from 1971 shows a "reduced diameter crank pulley with deep groove". Chevrolet PN3899660
