Hello Everyone, my name is Matthew, and I have been a lurker here from time to time since 2005 when I became a Monte owner.  It pains me that due to life’s circumstances, I need to part ways with my beloved 1970 Monte.

This has been my pride and joy since 2005 when she came my way and I just never have time to drive her anymore.

I am posting here first to hopefully find her a home with someone who will love and appreciate her as much as I have over almost half my life (just hit 40).

I truly believe that I had the honor to be a steward of a part of history and I owe it to this car to land her in a safe space with someone who will give her the love and attention she deserves.

This car has been beloved by my father and I and we will always cherish the memories we had with her. We still will take her out for a round of golf here and there, and love every moment.

Warning, you will not be able to drive without people constantly beeping at you or asking you about the car at almost every stoplight. I will miss that.

The alarm & Hidden kill switch were installed for the rare nights I would take her out in Chicago, throwing in THE CLUB as well.

She came my way after my lovely 1972 Mercury Montego was totaled in a wreck. A friend of ours who owned an auto parts store noticed I was no longer driving a muscle car and offered us this Monte through a friend. This Monte belonged to an older woman who rarely drove it and she passed while her son was in the process of restoring the car for her. Legend has it that she only drove it to church.  He had completed all the bodywork and engine rebuild but the interior was in disrepair when we purchased her. The odometer reads 11,917 Miles, but I have only put on approximately 9k in the time she has been mine since the engine rebuild. I assume that is a true 111,917 on the frame, but cannot verify as I do not have contact with the seller after all these years. She drives sooo clean, but of course, you have to pump the gas pedal a bit to fire her up.

Details:

1970 Monte Carlo V8

350 cu in (5.7 L) Turbo-Fire V8

3-speed automatic

4 Barrell Carb

Odomoder reads - 11,917 Miles (Appromaxetly 9,000 miles since engine rebuild)

VIN 138570F115684

2nd owner vehicle was purchased from the original owner on 2-18-05.

My 1970 Chevrolet Monte Carlo is finished in a metal flake blue over a blue vinyl interior and is powered by a 350ci V8 mated to a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a four-barrel carburetor, a dual exhaust system, power steering, power front disc brakes, air conditioning, power windows, automatic locks, alarm, hidden security kill switch, and a 2024 Kenwood KDC-BT782HD receiver with CD and Bluetooth installed by Showtime Audio in Chicago connected to a Phoenix Gold QX4150 amp powering JL Audio VR690-CX 6x9 speakers.

I acquired this Monte from the original owner in 2005. The original owner’s son owned a body shop and did a full rebuild on the engine, transmission, and body in 2004 prior to the sale to the current owner. The original vinyl top was removed in the course of the restoration when it was repainted to the metal flake blue. Sadly, the body tag was removed and not replaced during this process. The exhaust was upgraded in 2006 by James & Dean Muffler & Brake in Brookfield IL. The interior was redone by me and my father, converting the original cloth bench to a vinyl bucket seat interior.

I have extensive service records, some removed and spare parts included, and Illinois registration in my name.

The car has extremely low mileage since the rebuild (~9k), it is never driven during the winter.

The vehicle has had extensive services completed by Hollywood Motors in Brookfield IL within the last year including brakes, power steering, A/C Repair, spark plugs, hoses & drive belt replaced, wipers repaired, and transmission serviced. Tires in great shape.

The frame is solid. Minor rust in the undercarriage. There are a few paint dings and scratches, did my best to document them in the photos. My father just refurbished the trunk, you will see the refresh in one of the photos.

Happy to provide more pics on request.

Asking 25k, located in Brookfield IL in my father's garage. I live in Chicago and work full-time, and I will do my best to answer any questions as quickly as possible.

Let me know if you have any questions. It's my father's birthday today so I will not be around until Monday evening to answer any questions. Hopefully, we get a chance to take her for a spin today.  Feel free to  post questions here or shoot me an email at arthuransgar@gmail.com

Thank you to all who are keepers of the history of these amazing cars, I will be hopefully purchasing another one when I retire.

Looks like a nice driver / local show or even a National Meet !! Blue on blue, just can't be beat. Sorry to hear that you have pass it on. Good luck with the sale, that won't take long.Just make sure it is a Monte Carlo enthusiast at the least 😊IMG_1438.thumb.jpg.9faf796a7eabcb30e6cd2a9a06bce3d6.jpg

If anyone seriously wants a closer look at the car/in person assessment, let me know. Brookfield is just minutes from where I live and I’m on vacation so I’ll have free time for the next couple of weeks.

(this part killed me… because it’s true😂🤣:  “The alarm & Hidden kill switch were installed for the rare nights I would take her out in Chicago…”).

Altho returning to a punched door lock and peeled column would still suck, though 😂
