This isn't so much of a question as much as it might be an answer.

I have a 1970 Monte Carlo with a 396 big block, and I was looking to upgrade the suspension.

A friend of mine recommended QA1, and I contacted them.

I was looking for more of a street/cruising without necessarily visiting the track.  Not that there is one close.  LOL!

QA1 Recommended the following parts:

HK32-GMG2

RCK52359

GS401-10600B

I have my complete set-up from UMI Performance . I have upgraded from SBC to BBC, 2004r to turbo 400, 10 bolt to 12 bolt. I have all the parts staring at me and waiting on installation right now. QA1 is a very good upgrade on these Monte's.😊

I have UMI Performance tubular arms and sway bars with QA1 coilovers but with springs for SBC. I love the performance but need to play with the setting a bit. You may need a bump steer correction as the front arms bumps up your caster a few degrees which in turn rotates the steering arms upwards changing the steering geometry some.

Thanks for the info.  I will keep in mind about the bump steer.  The boxes have just started showing up.

My biggest thought now is should I be considering rack and pinion steering too.

With stock spindles you should be able to use tall lower ball joints to help bumpsteer. My lower control arms and tie rods are parallel.

Hmmm.

This kit recommended by QA1 comes with lower ball joints.  I will have to see how it looks.

I have been wondering, if I should consider getting this rack and pinion kit as well (below)

I have a 396 big block with a short water pump.

I just received an email from Maval Industries about the Unisteer rack.

Hello,

Sorry we have fitment issues with QA1 products, I would not recommend our Unisteer rack if you plan on using the product.

Thanks,

Tracy

At least they were honest. A vendor telling you not to buy their product. I would now be apt to ask them what products they recommend to use with their product for proper fitment. I’m impressed.

Suspension upgrade complete.  Just needs to be aligned.
