You know how much I like working on cars too....

I like doing home maintenance stuff even less.

That'd be great, thanks.

In the mean time, my shop has lost a leg of 480 3ph so today's work is essentially stopped.

This post below has info on the complete kit and shows what temperatures it produced in my car, on a hot humid day.

This post has the link to the S6 compressor, and different stages of 134 conversion kits:

Sorry about that, I updated the links/posts. They were active until pretty recent.

It may be worth a call to them to see what they're doing to 're-engineer' the kits. They're pretty helpful on the phone and may still have the parts in stock to put a system together if someone needed one in the short term. Maybe I'll give them a shout Monday as I'm a little curious to see what they're changing.

yee haw. the car shell is officially stripped to nothing (inside). I'll do the doors later.

Removing those back quarter glass/regulators were...... interesting. The design was.... interesting. We'll see how difficult it proves to put them back in and tune them to sit correctly.

no rust in the pans, except for one spot in the back which ill fix when i get this thing spun around on the rotisserie.

I have seen this heat pipe on the exhaust manifold go for bucks online. Why? Is it that rare?

Got the sheet metal from rustreplace. They were very fast communicating, and were easy to deal with.
MY mistake was I thought they were sending the lower panel as well.

So, I need to get that panel.

Does the group have a specific one that fits better than the others? AMD # 650-3468, Dynacorn #1489CWT, Goodmark #GMK403271068 and Golden Star #DF03-68. Let me know, please.

Another issue I have discovered- the sheet metal that the repair patches sit on, is well... non existent in a few places. I need to see if someone makes filler panels for this or I'm gonna have to go all MacGyver and make these by hand.

I found these little nails on both sides which I thought were interesting.

And might as well get going, I don't have time to waste- so I roughed in the two upper pieces. I really can't to much more until I get the middle piece sorted. So ......I can do the corners, and then the sides (at least that's my thought process) So in the mean time I'll just cleco them in place so I can get a feel of whats going on. I'll mess with trim later on to see how well it'll fit.

Yes them heat stoves are very rare and very expensive so if you can save the old one do it. I just saw a used one somewhere recently for a grand. Keep up the good work,  looks great.

This place is where I picked up the air cleaner assembly for my ‘70.

Their site had one RESTORED heat riser - sold awhile back - for $800+.  The product description says originals often command 3-4 times as much (ouch!).

Who woulda thought a piece of metal that 99% of people threw out when they put headers on the car would be $2-3k a half century later… IF you could find one. I agree with Steve… save and restore the one you have if it’s not trashed.

wow. Ok. I was going to sand blast the manifolds and that, and paint it with high temp POR15

I just ordered the rear deck panel from summit, and POR15 to do the chassis,body,engine,etc.etc.

Most pressing thing (sorta).
where do i find sheet metal for this, so I don't have to fabricobble it. looks to be the inner quarter panel structure- don't see much out there for it.
really, I wish the rust guys would sell a chunk to fix this, too :D

Man, lots of work, but it's going to be nice when finished. Just remember, seam sealer is your friend. I did my whole firewall /cowl area, since it leaked water all down the inside to the floorboards. I'd contact Jared Richey. He's a member here and has a you tube channel (jared richey 1970)?  He talked about where to get that piece a while back on his channel. I know they make that lower cross piece back panel.

Last night I ordered a trunk back window patch- hopefully see it soon. Ordered a ton of POR15 in various flavors as well.

Got the panel off, and something I thought was interesting- notice the metal is peeled forward on the inner trunk structure- I wonder if this was done at the factory? makes no sense.

the rust patches are sorta going to plan but I'm not digging how they are fitting.

I have the window trim that I'm trying to use as a guide- one thing I dont know is- what should the gap be between the window trim and body to allow the vinyl top in between? I know I don't want to make the trim "butt-up" against the body.

Was also thinking of mocking the glass up when i get enough structure back in it to make sure it all is gonna fit/look right.

Dug out all the old butyl/seam sealer/crap that was around the inner wheel well lines, back seat area, etc.etc.

No matter how hard you try, POR15 seems to get on your skin in one way or another lol

Today I slobbered a 2" brush everywhere it could reach on the back deck area, and back seat. This was a generous coating, and i didn't even use a quart. POR goes sooooooo far- the coverage (and self leveling) is amazing. I had other things going on today, so I didn't get to spend a lot of time on it.

Went to the bodyshop to drop off the fenders/trunk/hood/headlight covers, and checked in with the body guy over my 79 F250 crew cab he currently has and is stripping down for paint. It'll look cool pulling this with the ford :D

Got the glass-to-trunk panel mocked up- waiting on 18" locking C clamps to get the front half of it cleco'ed in. Can't do much to the channels until this panel is solidly in place.

Did some sand blasting/painting on some random things to keep me busy.
Question- is the A pillar panel covered in material or are they painted?

believe it's a satin black? I just had mine removed for the new kick panels from Muscle City. My originals are going to be SEM painted and up for anyone that needs a pair. They are for an A/C car.

The reason I ask, is if they are painted- I can simply drop them off at the body shop and have them painted black with the car. I think they would look good painted like the exterior

I kinda sorta have a rusty version of that piece, I’m cutting up a junk shell I can cut it off and get pictures if you want. It’s not nice but mostly there.

I got it off but it’s way worse than I thought. Might get a pattern out of it…. With some imagination.
