Alex nice work!!!   Just a heads up there is a plastic reducer in one of the gas hoses. I don't remember what one but it wouldn't hurt to check. Not sure what it does and it was not in my parts car that i just got rid of. They must of changed the gas hoses and didn't know it was in there.    Keep on truckin!!!!

I dont remember what one it was, but it was one of the 4 lines that are under the car between the tank and the charcoal filter.   Someone else will chime in and help me out as i cant get to the manual right now.

I almost threw out the restrictor on my 71 350 4bbl Monte when I changed all the hoses. Here are 2 pictures:

My 71 was built in Canada.IMG_0374-001.thumb.JPG.ec01f4764f88999999b7e18c504f5c49.JPGIMG_0371-001(1).thumb.JPG.984785e41c1e776460b88dc59ad4be0e.JPG

my assumption would be the restrictor allows a metered volume of vapor to the cannister to keep from overwhelming it? Where did you find the restrictor?

Thanks Bruce!!   I ran to the desk to look it up for Alex but you got it first!

When i did my 72 it was about an inch or two into the hose.        On the recent parts car it was not in the hose at all.

In the top vent pipe hose that has two small arrows in a circle from the shop manual I posted.

Drivetrain, you go hang outside and learn about the spiders of Texas, I'm busy with other stuff.

So, any thoughts on a putty or product that can fill these pits so I can smooth out the area the urethane seals to? 20241009_140950.thumb.jpg.bc142d6d06a0f471ea47d9bb1dfa11b7.jpg20241009_140954.thumb.jpg.e170a2d83395aee7e96f2133a05ac3fa.jpg20241009_140959.thumb.jpg.e400bd5f1b23690c8188e7b02058e033.jpg

Cut out the left side of the windshield. Was gonna patch it here and there but screw it. Gonna need some tweaking on the repair strips, they aren't conforming correct.

I'd use 'All-Metal' on something like that. Bullet & water proof, very durable. As long as you have it prepped right (no rust, scuffed up good), it'll hold up real well.

U. S. Chemical & Plastics All-Metal, 1-Quart (USC-14060)

Evercoat makes a similar product, "Metal-2-Metal", but I've never used that one. The USC one I've used for decades with success, always have some in stock around here.

If these are what you’re referencing, they are INCORRECT.

Not only is the description wrong (BLUE/GREEN & GREEN/BLUE), the lens pictured shows THREE colors (BLUE, GREEN & CLEAR).

Further compounding the confusion is the rest of the description:  “THE BEZELS HAVE THIN POST SO THEY ARE EARLY DESIGN. THEY HAVE RED AND GREEN LENSES.”

Convoluted to say the least 🙄

1970 Montes with the U46 RPO had TWO colors in the lenses… GREEN and CLEAR.

All Metal… wasn’t that the name of the garage band you played keyboards for in the late 80’s?

Drums.....

Not really...no musical talent at all. i had the long hair, that was about it.

Ended up working the lights for high school shows instead, because of the lack of musical ability.

Whoo. Been busy. Buying another business currently, and getting dirtwork done at my current business.

Have had zero time to touch this thing.
I DID find time to at least drop some of this POR15 patch and fill goop onto the pits of the windshield. Like POR15, its coverage is impressive, and its got the consistency of about Elmer's glue- but not as thick as RTV silicone. I wish it was a touch stiffer when pushing it around. We'll see how it looks when i hit it with a little sanding paper to level the pits out. This is just giving the urethane a better chance at sealing, and also killing the rust. 20241022_160940.thumb.jpg.806e4d197335a3d41444999bb18693a1.jpg20241022_160937.thumb.jpg.1f64dd9b4ecf94f2a81a01b1ba3d545b.jpg

so I got the driver's side of the windshield sorted out for the most part. Then I realized that the welder wouldn't reach where it was at, so I decided it was time to yank out the rotisserie.

The Evercoat product is just as good and once in a while we could not get all metal but we could get the metal to metal when I worked at the automotive paint store, got laid off the first of this month
