Canuck Posted July 8 Author Posted July 8 Some photos during the trip home. Dave Bash and I stayed at a hotel in Oregon before going our separate ways Monday morning. I took a few scenic photos Monday. 3 hours from home the car very suddenly had an issue and I had to pull over. I actually thought I had a tire problem at first the way the car reacted but the engine died as I pulled to the soft shoulder. No tire issue and no fluid leaking so the diagnosis continued. The car would not refire. A nice couple from California stopped to offer help. Brad and Brenda as it turns out have a 1972 Chevelle wagon hot rod as well as a modified 50s Chev truck. They also have a show where they interview custom car builders. They are on their way to Osoyoos, BC to interview high-end car builder JF Launier then scheduled back down South to interview Dave Kindig. Another fellow who is a mechanic also stopped to help. The initial diagnosis was that I had bad fuel as I had only just filled the tank about 15 miles back. Brad and Brenda went to town to get some octane boost to use to attempt to get the car running. In the meantime after I pulled off the air cleaner it was evident that the distributor was not in the correct position. I fixed it but not sure why it moved in the first place. Then I went to leave but was stuck in the soft gravel on the shoulder. Brad and Brenda arrived with the octane boost that we no longer need. Michael pulled me out with a winch. I thanked all those involved for their time. 10 Quote

Dtret Posted July 8 Posted July 8 That was awful nice of them folks to go above and beyond to help you out. It’s people like that make what we do worthwhile. I thank them and any others that are willing to help complete strangers and ask nothing in return ( not that it’s not offered). 8 Quote
