DragCat Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 Might be a sore point for some, just goy my renewal notice in the mail. For both Classics, 43.15 for 2 years. The Suburban is 128.60 for 2 years and that's for Vanity tags 😁 We don't pay property tax on vehicles in FL 🤘 4 Quote
Marks71 Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 Sore point? I’ve just been gutted and filleted. Thank you California 🤮 2 1 Quote
Dtret Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 No property taxes in Ohio either. Six cars about 380 per year. But nothing newer than 2013. That’s the problem here. 70,71,72,88,00 and 13. 3 Quote
Rob Peters Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 In Pennsylvania the Antique and Classic plates are a one time fee and permanent. rob 5 Quote
cny first gen 71 Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 I have vintage plates on mine. NY allows them if they are from the year the car was manufactured and they are original NY issued plates. I pay about $28.00 a year for registrationusing them. Truck has commercial plates because it's 3/4 ton that's over a hundred dollars every 2 years. 3 Quote
Marks71 Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 4 cars and a truck. 69,71,05,13,15. 1268.00/yr. Have another car and truck, 64,84, both with non ops. Quote
stangeba Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 In Michigan Sept 3, 2003, I was able to register a 1971 Lic Plate and pay a one time fee for life. I don't know if Michigan still accepts this. 2 Quote
Scott S. Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 $90.00/each a year here in Alberta..... Haven't looked into Vintage plates. But then again, in the name of "cost savings", they don't even give us a sticker anymore. Just a piece of paper and receipt. I'm guessing that forgery isn't a big concern anymore... 1 Quote

Scott S. Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 When I registered Montelishi, I used the plate I had on my '86 T Type....... The clerk was surprised how much heavier it is compared to the new ones. 1 Quote

The police can run the plates so fast now that the stickers don’t matter. I was talking to a friend ( yes I have some) the other day and I mentioned that it probably won’t be long before the do away with the stickers. 1 Quote

kpcsgasp Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 In Alaska it's a onetime $50 fee for permanent registration/Historic Vehicle plate. Wonder how much it will be when I move to Virginia next year. Quote

It was the original registration plate I had on my '86 T-Type back in '89. Isn't that considered an "antique" by now ??? LOL Quote

Rob Peters Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 15 hours ago, Bcrafty99 said: Ohio antique plates one time fee. But can only drive to shows or mechanics. Many of the states have this statement on their books for their Antique and/o Classic plate registrations. Pennsylvania is pretty much the same but doesn't really enforce these laws. The problem is, some people who have these plates sometimes will misuse these classifications. An example is a guy who used to live down the street from me had an older Camaro and he was running Pennsylvania Classic Car plates. This excluded him from needing state inspections and with the Classic plates he was able to get Antique Car/Classic insurance full coverage for $300 per year as opposed to $1000.00 or more per year. The issue is that he was using that car as a daily driver. Most anyone who would see this car on the road could tell there was no way this car would pass a state inspection. It resembled more of someone's Winter Beater all rusted and dented When people are using these plates in a legitimate manner would see this car or another car like it going around the neighborhood or driven anywhere, it would really tick us off because it is abuse like this that endangers not only us keeping this kind of status but also endangers the general public because not requiring state inspections this type of "Beater Car" is not safe to be on the roads. In Pennsylvania, and I am sure other states, the reason for no state inspection and permanent plates is used properly, they feel people who have the kind of money people have in these cars are also maintaining them in a safe manner. This would include people who not only trailer them to an event but especially people like me who drive them to events. Stepping down from soapbox. rob 4 Quote
Ron Tevis Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 No registration fee on the 71 anymore in Ky but it is sure taxed and and any other property we might have with any kind of tax or tariff they can think of including several “extra” charges and tax fees on all utilities.. no inspection on cars here tho. Some towns have started that however..seems this is the only state in this area that charges property tax and sales tax. $$$$$$$ Quote
Montemedic Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 Come to NY, Ron. We get taxed on everything and anything here. Then you pay again when you spend your money. If they could figure a way to tax you on the air that you breathe, they would. 1 1 Quote
TheBMan Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 Classic vehicles in Ohio (25+ years) have a one-time "Historical Vehicle" plate registration fee of $6 (not a typo) and the registration is good forever; no renewal necessary. Also, you can legally use a year-correct license plate in place of the standard Historical Vehicle plate as long as you take the replacement plate to the Deputy Registrar so they can scan it and document it. You are required to keep your Historical plate in the car. 2 Quote
