Vintage Tachometer

I've been looking at these vintage SUN and Dixco tachs for a while now, typically in FB groups and have always wanted to put one on my green 454 LS7 car. It was originally a standard 350/350, and no stock tach.  I had a new Moon tach (china) on it when I first completed the build, but wanted something a little more rustic to go with the rest of the build. Many of these tachs came with a separate box that was needed for operation, and those boxes generally are not worth the time and effort and I don't believe are compatible anymore.  I finally pulled the trigger on a SUN Greenline for my car. It was made in 1965 I believe, and while the blueline would have been more period correct...I thought the color would clash lol. Anyway, worked with a great guy out of PA and he walked me through the process. There is a company that makes a small box that takes the place of the old larger boxes that no longer work and you cant get parts for.   That company is https://technoversions.com/TachMatch.html

Pretty straight forward. I think this tach reads a touch low ( 200 rpm or so), but I can live with it as long as I know.    I dig the look.20240923_105633.thumb.jpg.0f55bb00f2e74b2eb056fe42fc6d4a9f.jpg

I just can't come near that on this site...... I know that some our members know what else is in my garage, It's a long story but it keeps the wife happy that someday she'll have a very rare car.

Did you have and issues with the ignition system ?

My "points" tach doesn't play well with the HEI distributor.

In this car, its a MSD digital E curve distributor.  It took a couple of tries to dial it in. the tachmatch device has a potentiometer that is first calibrated and then you can fine tune. Car runs fine.
