I agree with the body lines !!

Could you imagine if GM did a modern rendition of the First Gen Monte, along with all of the modern technology and performance of today ?  I would be the first in line to order one !!!

Not sure about that Mike, I'm sure today's engineering would screw it up the way others have screwed up the modern muscle cars.

The classy view looking at it from the front, but even more that is the feature of me cruising down the highway on a beautiful day!

There's an aftermarket company that's been toying with the idea.... they've already done a '70 Chevelle.

It's basically a retro front clip on the latest Camaro body.

Knowing that there's a solid frame under all that real steel.

Makes me feel safer..... :)

I saw a crash comparison from a 59 chevy and I think 09 Malibu the Malibu with all the crash features came out of it much better than the 59 so they have made that part a little better but they have failed on the styling in my opinion.

Yeah... But most of those tests are done at highway speeds.

I'm thinking about the day to day city driving...... Like getting rear ended by someone driving on their phone.

The long hood. Wouldn't it be funny to see a "then and now" set of these pictures?

Nothing like being behind the wheel and looking over that long elegant hood! That’s what I still remember from that first test drive 46 years ago.

The favorite feature on my Monte is the Turbo 400 transmission. My other old Chevy is a 62 Impala SS, 327/300hp with Powerglide. The 3 speed transmission is a great improvement over the 2 speed when doing car club tours in hilly country.  You can't downshift the 62 at speeds over about 30 mph when desending grades. I can downshift the SS454 at just about any speed. The disc brakes with the dual master cyl. also makes me feel safer when desendng long steep grades. We have a lot of mountains here in Oregon.
