Robnhood Posted November 1 Posted November 1 I was wondering what everyone thought about bumper guards for a 1970 monte carlo non-ss Any ideas where to get them? Quote
Scott S. Posted November 1 Posted November 1 OPGI or Parts Place would be the most likely.... OR Jared and several other members probably have some kicking around. I'm sure someone will weigh in with a lead. It all depends on the look you're going for...... Personally, I like them, but they wouldn't suit the direction I went with Montelishi. Scott. 1 Quote
cny first gen 71 Posted November 1 Posted November 1 I don't like or dislike them, I don't have them on mine and will not add them. But on some others I've seen there ok. I don't like the real big ones. 2 Quote
alain boileau Posted November 1 Posted November 1 🙂I think that they are a nice option to have the front ones are easy to get PartPlaceInc or OPGI The back ones not so easy to get not being reproduced So want ads or hope a friend has a set and is willing to sell them Alain🙂 1 Quote
Dtret Posted November 1 Posted November 1 I personally don’t really care for them. They are not on my 70SS or my 71SS ( obviously front only) but they are on my 72 W code Custom and they are growing on me. I think I have some but will probably need new rubber and driver quality. 4 million dollars. Be sure that’s what you want, once you drill the holes in a nice bumper you’re stuck. 2 Quote
alain boileau Posted November 1 Posted November 1 🙂I agree with Dennis make sure you want them you will have to drill holes in the bumpers. That's what I did on the 72 I restored Alain🙂 1 Quote
Michael Boyte Posted November 1 Posted November 1 I personally don't care for the front guards, However, I really do like them on the rear bumper. Also as others have pointed out and I agree, I don't like the larger ones at all, they remind me of something that would have been on a police cruiser back in the day. 3 Quote
jft69z Posted November 1 Posted November 1 I don't like them, to the point the mounting holes got welded up before getting the bumpers re-chromed. 1 Quote

DragCat Posted November 1 Posted November 1 I got the fronts on my blue oval, not a fan. Especially if your working under the hood in the front and slam your knee against one 🙃 1 1 Quote

Too funny 😂, I knew there had to be more, nobody will buy just one. I was imagining a trunk full of bananas 🍌 You guys are the best !! So much fun to be had at the First Gen Monte meets . I certainly look forward to being able to one day return to join our Family for such events. 4 Quote

willie Posted November 2 Posted November 2 As far as the bumper guards go, i am not a fan of them on the SSs. But i don't dislike the look on a 350 car. I also wouldn't drill holes in my bumpers to see how they look. So much so i have a set of bumpers with them already installed for the day (if ever) i get to build a 350 car. now getting back to the fun stuff 30 minutes ago, jft69z said: I think there was something like 75-80 of them..... someone just kept buying more & more of them. i didn't think of filling up your trunk Dennis, but that would be on the list for future meets!! lol That someone will need to buy another 100-200 i would think to fill that bad boy up!! lol 2 Quote

Dtret Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Really hard not to figure out which clam is responsible for this. I wouldn’t mind if we passed. 😝 1 3 Quote
mon-tss Posted November 2 Posted November 2 I like that my 71 SS has front guards, go with the rear pad. Like the looks of both on the other monte's also too. 1 Quote
