Sharky427 Posted November 30 Posted November 30 I am currently restoring my 71 Monte SS (Canadian built). The build sheet shows option D35, Mirrors: LT REMOTE & RT MANUAL CONTROL-CUSTOM SPORT. Of course there wasn't a passenger mirror on the car when I bought it. Doors were replaced. I doubt there are any originals around, but I would like to replace it. Anyone have experience with the kit available from SS396.com? Price is $350 for the kit and I only need the passenger side. Are the mirrors identical to the originals? Are they a high quality part? Thanks for any opinions. Quote
Canuck Posted November 30 Posted November 30 I had a Canadian built 71 SS also with the D35 option listed but there was no mirror on the passenger door. It had 95,000 miles and I was the third owner. The door had not been replaced as far as I could tell. I do know of a very late Canadian built 71SS with the passenger sport mirror. It’s the only one I’ve seen in person. 2 Quote
Ron Tevis Posted November 30 Posted November 30 I got this sport mirror several years ago. Can’t remember where I ordered it from but rock auto comes to mind. I could look it up in my receipts if you are interested.. caution tho. ⚠️ it is a tad smaller, not noticeable really, and the mirror is flat surface.. but it is a great help while driving and especially backing up.. be very careful, when installing, measure 15 times before drilling.. I do think it was listed under Sheville parts btw. Ugh. 2 Quote
stangeba Posted November 30 Posted November 30 I added the chrome right fixed mirror to my 71 years ago in 2006 and wrote this instruction piece. Perhaps it will be of some help. Click on the hot link: https://1971montecarlo.wordpress.com/2016/02/26/adding-a-chrome-right-side-mirror/ 3 Quote
jft69z Posted November 30 Posted November 30 bulletmirror.com was the place I got my passenger side mirror. It's a F-body mirror, but isn't really noticeable. John P. is looking at the SS396.com mirrors, but we haven't pulled the trigger on those just yet. He wants to get the set, which they say is 'out of stock' right now. They do list them available separately, though it's about $40 more total for the pair. You said you only need a passenger side mirror, here's the link: https://www.ss396.com/monte-carlo/MIR-7SR.html 2 Quote

DragCat Posted November 30 Posted November 30 I always thought the cable assembly on the drivers side was a bit overkill.....I'm pretty sure my 75 Cougar passenger sport mirror had the cable assembly mounted in the dash but I couldn't find any replacements, maybe it was my 73 Montego 🙃 https://www.ebay.com/itm/403729011492?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=403729011492&targetid=2320582760579&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9011966&poi=&campaignid=21210727088&mkgroupid=165587880673&rlsatarget=pla-2320582760579&abcId=9407521&merchantid=6296724&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD_QDh_pbYwNQXg18vUT1cNXBPyOW&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI5OeEvbuEigMVT4VaBR1DdhELEAQYFiABEgI-1PD_BwE . Scott S. Posted November 30 Posted November 30 Hey Randy, Early Birds in Barrie should have something like what you're looking for. Not sure of the prices, but he's on p\our side of the border, so import fees and taxes aren't a problem. Scott. Quote
