Rob Peters Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 There are three memorials I have personally visited that I noticed something very special. Those three memorials are Arlington National Cemetery Tomb Of The Unknown Solider, the Arizona Memorial in Oahu, and the third one is the VietNam War Memorial on the Mall in Washington DC. What I have noticed is how quiet it at and around each of these memorials. People speak I hushed voices and keep their small kids quiet and by their sides so they aren't running around. It isn't like that at many other monuments and memorials. rob 2 Quote
420ponies Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 (edited) Yes, these are very special places for those we have lost. I can remember the memorial of the 283 Marines lost in Beirut Lebanon , that is at Camp Lejeune, N.C. back in 1983. Though I knew only a few of my fellow Marines, I knew when our guys returned home , it was humbling to say the least. When I get out that way on trips to the south, I make it a point to stop and remember those that lost their lives fighting for us. Sometimes , we go to places unknowing what the outcome will be, because we took the oath, to protect our country. The few, the proud, the Marines!!
