Hopefully that will get better sooner than later but I do gotta say I am pretty spoiled with the fact I can do anything at any time now. It's very nice having every day being Saturday 😅 I hear ya !!! But I do miss the ability to have a routine. 5 Quote
Rob Peters Posted January 14 Posted January 14 1 hour ago, Scott S. said: I hear ya !!! But I do miss the ability to have a routine. I have been retired for about 11 1/2 Years. After I had gotten some of the Honey-Do items knocked off my list I took a part time job at Home Depot. It was an ideal job working in the plumbing department. I had been a Customer Service Rep with Eastman Kodak and Johnson & Johnson for over 40 years so the part time job at Home Depot, working with customers in need was right up my alley. I really enjoyed the job but when I tore my Achilles tendon in my right foot, followed by Covid it kind of ended my desire to be on my feet all day at Home Depot. As far as missing a routine, I have plenty enough around the house to have my own routine. Being retired allows you to set your own routine without a boss (other then your wife) setting your routine for you. Routine's are overrated. rob 7 Quote
Scott S. Posted January 14 Posted January 14 No wife, just a cat...... But she can be demanding too. 🐱 It's more just having the ability to get out and socialize than anything else. But until the surgeons decide what their going to do about the stenosis, my mobility is pretty much limited to grocery runs and the occasional cruise followed by lots of time with heating pads and therapy. 4 Quote
cny first gen 71 Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Routines are overrated for sure, I really don't miss my last job at or the company I worked for, I still keep in touch with a couple guys I used to work with. And I agree now dr visits are the normal routine now. No wife or any pets any more so I don't have to check with anyone if I decide to do something on spur of the moment which I've done many times. 6 Quote

I keep in touch with no one I worked with. There were about five of us who used to meet at Bob Evans the first Monday of every month. Covid put a stop to that and it never restarted. Those 4 guys were the only ones I even tried to connect with and I really do not miss that now. As far as the GM job never missed the first day of retirement. Years ago we looked forward to going into work because we got our work done while having fun. Then the bean counters took over and the fun times disappeared discouraging hard work and creating a nonproductive environment 7 Quote

Happy employees means better productivity. They make it miserable and no one wants to work. 4 Quote

Several of them even kept in touch after I was put to pasture just to let me know they missed my way of dealing with them. 2 Quote
jft69z Posted January 15 Author Posted January 15 We have a few new people that have joined us as full-members. Some have been here a couple years and decided to sign on as full, and a couple are brand new. Some haven't logged onto the site yet, but I spoke to them and thanked them for joining our group and helping to keep it moving forward. At some point they'll pop in as I mentioned we like pictures. Please welcome: Alexander Arnakis Scotty Van Wagner Barry Tovig and Theresa Smydra (On a side note, can we at least try not to derail this post like we do all the rest of them...🤣. I know it's not easy, and we're all guilty . Thank you!) 5 1 1 Quote

As others have mentioned, you’re seriously in the best place for all things First Gen… as well as a ton of unrelated, mundane, everyday “stuff”. Good people all around this joint. 6 Quote
