Canuck Posted February 13 Posted February 13 I drive my 70 Monte to work quite a bit from April through October. I put on about 3,000 miles last year. I have driven it 85,000 miles in 28 years. My 71 SS gets driven on weekends and some evenings for cruise-ins. It also does road trip duty. This year I will drive it on a 1,700 mile round trip for the Western Meet (if I don’t sell it first). I have driven it 12,000 miles in 8 years. 6 Quote
Grant MacPherson Posted February 13 Posted February 13 May till October, averaging about 2000 miles a year last 5 years. Local runs and shows. 5 Quote
cny first gen 71 Posted February 13 Posted February 13 When the salt is off the roads in the spring until salt season in the fall. Mileage depends, some years less than 1000 some years between 1000 and 2000 6 Quote
Leghome Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Mine has not been driven a whole lot the last two years ddue to Sniper problems brought on by bad heads on the 350 That not being the case now he will be on the road a lot this year. As soon as the roads dry up he might make some short trips around town as I usually drive it year round weather permitting 7 Quote
cbolt Posted February 13 Posted February 13 not as much as I would like, and not as much as I used to. We inherited an extra car and now it takes me moving 2 vehicles out of the way just to take it out of the garage. Its kind of inconvenient. Prior to inheriting the vehicle it was at least once a week. To the store, just a drive in the country, out to dinner, etc. Its fun to drive after all. 6 Quote
stangeba Posted February 13 Posted February 13 I only drive it when the weather is nice, Spring. Summer and Fall about 1,100 miles each year. I now have about 168,000 miles on my 71 Monte and can't wait to drive it this spring! 5 Quote
502ci Posted February 13 Posted February 13 The most I driving I do every year is at Carlisle which is not much seeing how I trailer it there. Overall the entire driving season I put less than 200 miles on it. 1 Quote
Dtret Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Since my 71SS was finished in December of 21 , 456 miles. My 72 W code Custom was driven about 400 last year alone. My 88 SS has a total of 861 miles since the car was rebuilt in 2001. 4 Quote
Scott S. Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Montelishi is my "daily driver" from April until October..... Sometimes later. Not that I do a lot of driving, but I bought her to enjoy her. 6 Quote
willie Posted February 14 Posted February 14 I am not sure i should put this here but i will take the beating later i am sure. Everyone has different ideas of what they want from their cars. I am the odd ball, I don't put any miles on my cars. The Custom was done (not really) about 5 years ago and i bet i haven't put 100 miles on her! I have had my GN for 27 years and i only put 3000 miles on her. I (me, my $.02) enjoy more just looking at them, maybe wax and polishing them. Not so much cleaning from the rain. I do enjoy starting them every few weeks to hear them run, even though they are still in garage or trailer or wherever. Ok start hollering and ranting. LOL 6 1 1 Quote
420ponies Posted February 14 Posted February 14 I say, it's what you want to do with your Monte Carlo. I'm a drive to and from shows kinda person , no matter how far. Now that I'm retired, might be on the road more than before, we'll see this year ( note: it's been off the road since October of '20). I'm planning as many road trips to shows as possible. The Kentucky Eastern meet is a stretch since I have not taken the new drive train out yet. Now, I'm not saying I wouldn't go, but I (as Jared knows), do not like to be on the side of the road broken down. I've had my share of breakdowns believe me. I'm a little more prepared now than before though. When it was on the road (April-May,thru October) it had about 2,500 each year. 7 Quote
Canuck Posted February 14 Posted February 14 I agree, do what you want with your car. We all enjoy them differently. April and I have created so many great memories driving on road trips. We have roughly 28,000 miles in first gen Montes travelling for FGMCC meets during the last 20 years! I can’t wait for the trip to Utah this year. I would drive to the Eastern Meet if I could get that much time off work. Driving to work in the 70 Monte also brings me joy but I have a 25 minute curvy highway drive without any traffic. I also have a safe place to park where I can see it directly out my window only 5 ft away from where I sit. It would be different if I still lived in the city. 8 Quote
Rob Peters Posted February 14 Posted February 14 No specific amount. Whenever I have time to attend a cruise or car show among all of my other family responsibilities. Also roll in medical appointments, grass cutting, neighbor helping, grandchildren needs etc, etc. rob 5 Quote
Chevy Dave Posted February 14 Posted February 14 I drive my Monte Carlo at least once a month for a minimum of 30 minutes for a complete warmup, and run my AC compressor for at least 5 minutes during the run to lubricate the seals. 3 Quote
bob 71 Posted February 14 Posted February 14 im out almost every nite, usually a cruise nite. try to go to car shows every weekend. dont mind 1 1/2 hour ride to car shows or just long drives. im guessing 4000 + miles a year 6 Quote

Thats where we are, and Linda and I would drive to the western meet if she had the time off work. We had planned to drive to the western meet in 2021 before it was canceled and had the whole itinerary planned out and the reservations made. She has a new job that doesn't afford as much time each year unfortunately. Not knock on the folks that keep their cars low miles or no miles, that's all well and good. My enjoyment comes from two things, wrenching on the Monte and driving it, in that order. So, all you folks who think my multiple hard luck awards are a bad thing, I submit to you that they are not because I get to do both things, drive and subsequently turn wrenches. If there is a heaven, that's what it looks like to me! 10 Quote
Marks71 Posted February 14 Posted February 14 I’ve put maybe 350 miles on my 71 in the year and a half that I’ve had it. Just going to local shows or cruise ins. What’s worse is that since I got the Monte I’ve put 0 miles on my 69 Z/28 of which I’ve had since 98. Probably averaged about the same miles on it as the Monte in the past. I think maybe I’m a little like Willie on this. I enjoy tinkering and detailing and just admiring some of GMs best designed cars ever. 4 Quote

Being in Kentucky it would be nice if you and your wife could cruise on over to Somerset in May and attend our Eastern Meet. that is unless you are already scheduled to attend rob 2 Quote
