Canuck Posted February 26 Posted February 26 This is one of 1,919 SS454s built for 1971 powered by a numbers matching 454 Turbo-Jet V8 engine with 365 hp and a Turbo Hydramatic 400 transmission. Build sheet is included. 88,000 miles. This is not a perfect frame-off restoration but is an extremely nice car. $55,000 USD 88,000 miles Numbers matching LS5 454 engine Numbers matching TH400 transmission Classic Copper paint (very high quality) Sandalwood interior with bucket seats and console Air conditioning 4-spoke sport steering wheel AM 8-track was professionally rebuilt in 2024 All 4 speakers are new in 2024 Original 15x7 rally wheels Cooper Cobra 255/60/15 new in fall of 2023 Power steering Power disc brakes 12 bolt rear with 3.07 posi It has the correct SS454 equipment: Chrome exhaust tips, rear bumper rubber strip, additional rear trim, G67 air compressor (non-functional), rear sway bar, thicker front sway bar, boxed rear control arms and rear end shock protectors. Some of these parts are hard to find as they were only on 1971 SS454 Monte Carlos and not all are reproduced. This car is maintained and reliable. I have driven this car on several road trips with the longest being about 2,000 miles. I wouldn’t hesitate to drive it anywhere. As for paint quality, you would be hard pressed to find any better. I get compliments on the quality of paint everywhere I go. Even other painters ask me who did the paint work. It needs to be seen in person to appreciate. There is a very small bubble by the rear window. I suspect the paint was nicked when the rear window trim was installed which is what started it. In September, I spoke with the guy who painted the car (FGMCC member) and he says he can fix it without much cost and you wouldn't even tell it was there. The painter lives 9 hours away from me and haven't had the opportunity to bring it to him yet. Any experienced paint shop will be able to fix this as I do have some of the paint left over that comes with the car. Everywhere else on the car is completely rust free. In the interior the carpet and rear package tray were replaced during it’s life. All the door panels, dash, headliner, etc are original and in very good condition. The seats have a little wear but hadn’t gotten bad enough for me to replace yet. The car comes with a build sheet and other documentation. There are receipts dating back over 20 years. The car is located in Summerland, BC, Canada. The paperwork can be quite simple at the border. I sold a 72 Monte to a fellow from Iowa in 2023 and am aware of what is needed to get the car out of Canada. If shipping is required there is an FGMCC member who can transport the car and has experience going across the border with other first gen Montes. Feel free to message me with any questions. Canuck Posted February 26 Author Posted February 26 Note that these engine bay photos were taken before my winter project of detailing the engine bay. I will post updated photos shortly. As you can see it looked really good before but needed better attention to detail. This project started by simply wanting to change valve cover gaskets and spark plugs. I decided to pull everything off the engine and repaint the block. Upon reassembly of the engine bay I added some new parts (distributor cap, rotor, vacuum advance, ignition coil, spark plugs, brake booster, master cylinder, AC drier, exhaust manifold gaskets). I’m a firm believer in preventative maintenance since I drive it a lot. I had the AC compressor rebuilt as well. 6 Quote

72 LS5 Posted March 1 Posted March 1 This is my favorite color combo for the SS! I haven't been on the site for years, but saw this on FB and I have admired the car for decade on this site! I wish I could buy it but I have a 37 year relationship with Big Blue, too much sentimental value...... Your car is absolutely is the most beautiful SS454 I have ever seen! I love all the pics, and the the backgrounds of the pics are amazing!!! Good Luck!! Mike Quote

That is why I’m keeping my small block 1970 and not the 1971 SS454. 🙂 3 Quote
Chevy Dave Posted March 1 Posted March 1 Really nice car. It is difficult to find an SS454 that has not been modified in that condition. As Dennis said, I too would buy it if did not already own a SS454 Monte Carlo. 1 Quote
1970mcss Posted March 1 Posted March 1 I too would love to have it. I have no garage space and a wife that says I have enough stuff. 1 Quote

Rob Peters Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Congratulations Aaron. I know you will miss it. It is a beautiful Monte and way to go on your stalking skills. Maybe you should have made the price $25.00 more than the actual selling price and then use that extra $25.00 to sign him up as our newest dues paying member of the club. Does he live near enough to you that you may see him and the car at car cruises or shows? rob 2 Quote
