Chris shipley Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Led lights. Wondering if alot of you have them . Front and rear. What's your opinion on them? 1 Quote
jft69z Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Headlights. Wouldn't drive at night without them now, after seeing the difference between halogens and LED. 3 Quote
Chris shipley Posted March 7 Author Posted March 7 I currently don't have them. Was looking into them. These i see alot more of as well!! Quote
DragCat Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Tail lights LED.....Headlights upgraded halogen on the Monte. Tail lights, side markers, and front turn signals on the Cougar. A big improvement IMHO. The Cougar was a bigger expense because of the sequential turn signals on the rear. 2 Quote

I rarely drive at night so I will stay with halogens. I did a lot of night driving in my original Monte and never had a problem. Yes, the LED's are brighter, but again, I rarely drive in the dark except highway tunnels. Joe, how often do you drive yours at night? Just curious. rob 2 Quote

Still, better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. Also did my 2500 GMC truck which had factory halogens. That one gets used a lot more at night, and has been quite an improvement, both on the high/low factory locations, and the snow plow lights too. 4 Quote
Blackhawk Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Dapper OE7 projector LED headlights with the original glass option. Not cheap, but the projector keeps you from blinding oncoming drivers and they look a lot more stock than a lot of the other LED headlights. I have the Technostalgia LED tail lamps too, the flash on stop feature is great. They tend to stay on for ~30 seconds after I shut the car off, but that could be a ground issue. Other companies are making sequential boards now, but I think that they flash vertically instead of side to side. If you don't run LEDs you should strongly consider using relays for the headlights so that the draw isn't going through the headlight switch. Removing as much draw as possible from going into the cabin and along the extra 12 feet of wire is a good thing, same with putting the starter solenoid on a relay to reduce lazy starting when hot. 1 Quote

Blackhawk Posted March 8 Posted March 8 Make sure that any LED headlights have a good beam pattern. Some of the cheaper bulbs will be the type to send light everywhere and blind oncoming drivers. 4 Quote
RON T Posted March 8 Posted March 8 LED tail and Brake lights with the sequential circuit board that flashes 3 times when applying brakes. Love Em.. work perfect… 1 Quote

MCfan Posted March 8 Posted March 8 I installed the Shiney Hiney LED kit which includes tail lights, brake lights and turn signals all in a slender integrated panel and can be adapted to plug into the stock 1157 socket. I've never actually seen all they do (because I'm always the driver) but others tell me they are really cool! 😄 3 Quote

72 Monte Carlo Posted March 8 Posted March 8 These are the LED headlights I installed in my 72. They look just like my factory 2016 Harley touring bike LED headlight. They are super bright and project a great light pattern. They have the halo ring in white for when the marker lights are on, and you can wire up the amber turn signal on the halo ring to come on with the turn signals. 2 Quote

DragCat Posted March 8 Posted March 8 This is the original thread and where I got mine from. Just a FYI. My buddy did the same on his 69 Camaro, he did have a slight issue getting the pig tails but eventually succeeded 2 Quote
RON T Posted March 8 Posted March 8 That’s the light kit I purchased and installed. Been 4 years. Nary problem.. 2 Quote
