I was never a fan of the Flame Hats.  That said, in reality, I am not a hat person at all, never have been.  Even when I was in the Air Force I hated wearing a the baseball style hat used for the fatigue uniform  so i bought a non-government issued hat in Southeast Asia that had my Buck-Sgt rank Insignia and a Snoopy on his dog house.  It was never questioned here in the states.  It was sort of accepted in most state-side bases as a badge of honor.  

I have never had to worry much about my head getting sunburned if I didn't wear a hat.  My hair line is still in almost the same place as it was when I was in my 20's (50 years later).   

Yes it is pretty much gray but that us not a problem for me.  When I started getting gray in my late 20's and people made fun of me I simply told them 'I don't care what color it turns as long as it doesn't commit suicide '

I put in a design quote for both style hats with our logo, waiting for price quotes. After getting those, I'll still call and talk to someone, see what they say about quality, and their suggestions.

Well, I can say for certain, we're not likely to get multiple styles of hat. Reason being, the places I looked at so far have a minimum order quantity of 24 if you want it customized (embroidered). It doesn't make sense to order 4 or 5 different styles/colors of hats to keep in stock. The one place that responded today quoted almost $17/hat, so we're not looking to tie up $2000 of the clubs money, to sit on over 100 hats for who knows how long. 

I'll wait to see what the other quotes look like, but I imagine they're not too far off from the first one. I tried looking locally too, but they are the same or worse than what I saw so far. 

We're going to need to restock some T-shirts in the future too, so that's another bundle of money that's going to be spent as well. In all honesty, the shirts do seem to sell better than the hats.

Mesh caps are just plain solid colors for the most part, so options are limited...

I'm personally not a fan of flames either, but the main reason I looked into it was that it does have all the same colors as our Club logo. I looked for plain hats with some type of accent, and found this (not real fond of this either):

Hey Joe, I agree with Dennis, Mark and Steve, but maybe just take a club vote???   How many like the red flames verses how many want plain black. Of course they both have the same Club Logo on them!!!

I also think if the T shirts sell faster, don't tie a ton of money in the hats, you can always change the color on the next order?   My $.02

I also like the black front with white mesh. "Richardson style 112" is a nice affordable hat that a lot of the race promoters that I've raced with use for merchandise sales.

I don't know if the white mesh I cooler or not 🤣 As mentioned one standard would probably be more cost effective than a whole bunch of different colors. I will be sporting my new GREEN summit hat at Carlisle tho 🤣 Also I have seen a trend where the logo's are now on the side and not centered in the front, don't know why .

They look cooler. The solid black ones look like something a roadie for a Southern rock band would wear 😂

Yea I have one from camping world,  I  have a collection of hats that I don't wear. I don't buy hats either,  if I'm wearing a hat advertising a company I certainly ain't paying for it. It just happens to be blue too 😀 I had a few from Jegs I gave away over the years.

I like the non-mesh hats mostly because they keep your head warmer when it's cold, and they keep the top of your head from getting sunburnt in the warmer/hot months.

But I don't mind a mesh style hat at other times of the year.

That being said, I think it would really set this club apart from all other clubs, if we had hats that would somewhat color coordinate with our Monte Carlo cars' colors, all with our standard FGMCC logo/patch.

Black cars - black hats

Brown cars - brown hats

Green cars - green hats

Blue cars - blue hats

White cars - white hats

Etc., etc.

I know that the color of the hats won't exactly match our cars, but I don't think they would need to.

We all love the color of our cars, otherwise we wouldn't own them, and we'd own a Monte or Monte's of a different color.

Maybe interior colours ??? 

That's probably easier to match.

Easier to see from the side when you're sitting in traffic. 

And they don't appear backwards when you look in the mirror.

A lot of our cars will have Black, Green, Blue, White, Red, Tan, and Sandalwood interior colors, so not much different from the outside of the cars 😉
