Just added these 17-in American Racing wheels. My mechanic said they should have added hub rings to center the wheel, since it's a multi-fit rim. The wheel/tire dealer said he never puts them on and never will. They're not expensive, so I want to put them on if I should. Any of you guys run hub rings? If so, do you know what size I would need? Thanks in advance 🙂

Absolutely add them if they're available, especially for non-steel wheels such as yours. They keep the wheel centered on the hub and prevent vibration and unnecessary stress and wear on the studs and wheels.

Steel wheels, if they're the correct wheel for the car, fit the hub so there is no need for rings. Your mechanic is correct, multi-fit wheels should have them.

Thanks for answering. That's what we will do then.

If the rings are aluminum, which they most likely are, be sure to add some anti-seize between the ring and the hub otherwise those two dissimilar metals will “weld” themselves together over time. It’s a process called galvanic corrosion.

You may want to do that to the lug nuts as well.

Or you can use the "Blue Oval" lugs, which have a washer built into the lugs.
