Went to Nashville to pick this up. I needed one part on this to get my plan rolling. I knew I was pushing it on the home front when I told Karen I was going to Nashville to get another one and she said “ Don’t you think you have enough “. I guess I’m done now ( except for one more trip to Texas and one trip to Kansas). Sorry. 😢 edit  no it’s not a convertible, the roof was cut off

Frame. If it’s good it has to go to Texas. Then he won’t destroy the other car I have down there.

I investigated what came with the car this morning. Fenders are patched but the back supports are still good ( bonus) both doors are rust free ( bonus) both bumpers are ok but all the brackets are perfect ( bonus) and the tail panel is good ( I can use that on my 70 ( bonus). The quarters have been replaced so good metal there. I guess I did ok for $350. Pull the body and check the frame. Next month ( maybe).

Ok it looks like you got a handful of things you need. Why did you yank the car on pulling from the frame then, looks bent now????

It was bent already so I just rolled with it. That part is an easy fix. I never understood why everyone hooks there to pull the cars. It a non-structural part so it’s just thin metal.

Got what I needed. The frame is perfect. A lot of good stuff on the body too, as far as metal goes. Everything I need for my 70 is good on this thing. All bonus parts. Score. Strip it and ship it

Reminds me of the guy who decided to replace one part on his antique car.  He pulled the radiator cap off his old car and drove a new car under the cap.  Installation was easy and the plan worked well!

Good job Dennis.  Save what you can!  GM isn't making any new parts guaranteed!

So, is a BBQ pit the next project ??? :k

I remember when I was in high school a neighbour had a '72 Monte carlo, but his Dad wouldn't let him put it in the garage.

I passed his place one winter's day and saw that his younger siblings had turned it into a toboggan slope. :(

I noticed something the other day and I had not seen before. Drum brakes on the front of a 72. All the numbers checked out.

If i am not mistaken, even the base model came standard with front disc brakes.  Now, the big BUT, yes it could be ordered with front drum brakes.  A build sheet would be great to see for that car.

Just  curious Dennis, what does the master cylinder look like on that Monte?

Double bowl, which is odd but all the brake lines were hooked up.

I’m thinking they were changed at some point because now that I think of it both metal lines for the front wheels were cut at the frame. But the frame does not have the brake hose brackets that bolt to the frame. Things that make you go hhmmm
