72 Monte Carlo Posted May 21 Posted May 21 What are people using for glueing their vinyl top - contact cement, 3m adhesive, headliner adhesive, or? I did a general search but nothing definitive came up. 1 Quote
Dtret Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Ronnie just went through this on another post. I’ll try and find it in a bit. 1 Quote
Llamaback Posted May 28 Posted May 28 Use this stuff https://www.amazon.com/Dap-Weldwood-Contact-Adhesive-Solvent/dp/B004IH3HAQ/ref=asc_df_B004IH3HAQ?mcid=e66b1625b5f5360c8de5fcb135e2305c&hvocijid=17419064642025505373-B004IH3HAQ-&hvexpln=73&tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=721245378154&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=17419064642025505373&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9197915&hvtargid=pla-2281435179818&psc=1 I have used it with good results and have read that is also the best on several old car forums. Should be more durable than the 3m stuff mentioned. I bought mine from a local auto upholstery shop. Quote
72 Monte Carlo Posted May 29 Author Posted May 29 I have Weldwood contact adhesive for my new headliner, which I plan to install here very soon. I have 3M spray adhesive for the headliner as well. Quote

1Bad_Monte Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Non pro tip, get the non fabric backed top. Extra 150$ but looks 1Mx better. Put one on and the trim didn’t fit, the look was off and it just didn’t look like it was meant for the car. Peeled all the glue, cleaned and installed the new one and so happy. PS, never done it before but couldn’t find anyone that does it near me so just went for it. Learned everything I know from Old School Auto Upholstey videos. -Jr. 7 Quote

1Bad_Monte Posted June 28 Posted June 28 Oh, I guess I should have said what I used for adhesive. DAP Products Weldwood Landau Top & Trim HHR Solvent Type Spray Grade Contact Adhesive 1 Gal, Natural Got it on Amazon. https://a.co/d/6Tpodt1 The video posted above and the whole channel was super helpful. Got a 40$ spray gun and worked great. That gallon is enough to do 3-4 tops. 4 Quote
