This is the weekend we honor those who served that are no longer with us. Not only those who paid the ultimate sacrifice but those who served and have passed through the years.

My father served in WWII and was in many of the Pacific Islands.  He would never discuss his experiences from that time and he died in 1987 at the age of 81.  My brother served in the US Air Force and served during the Vietnam war and died in 2013 at the age of 64.  They are always in my thoughts and will honor them over this weekend.

What are your plans for this weekend.  We may cook out but those plans are not fully set.  Tomorrow, Sunday and Monday are supposed to be rain free so I do hope to be able to take the Monte out for a ride.  Also, one of the traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall is in the Pittsburgh area and we plan to go see it.  We have been to the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington DC and it is a very moving experience and hope the traveling wall has the same emotional effect.

Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend.

My father was a WWII vet as well, he passed 10 years ago.  We will hit the cemetery with my family to tidy things up from the winter.

Be safe everyone this weekend. I plan on going to a car show tomorrow as a spectator. I'll bring my club cards for stalking 🤣

Just about all the men in my family over the years have served in the military. My mom was the last in our family line of DAR.

Just a cookout with Linda's family on Monday, but over the weekend I will likely watch a few war movies.

This evening after work, my friend and I will be masking off all the window openings on my Monte Carlo and prepping the bare metal for the epoxy primer and high build sand able primer to be sprayed on it, which I hope is this weekend.

First, Bless all the veterans as our lives would not be the same without them.

( that was a moment of silence for the ones that have passed)

Karen has her Memorial Day celebration on Sunday so I’m getting ready for that. I was hoping that a few members would be stopping by on their way back home from Somerset but things happen. Everyone please have a great weekend and stay safe.

Well, I'm getting a new(used,2 yrs.) hot tub Sunday.I have to remove it from a 2nd story deck. It's going to be fun.Got a plan ,and lots of extra hands to help.Pool company that owns a crane and does this everyday (there own hot tub), can't get to it until Mid June. They knew the closing date for the house I'm getting it from and they blew it. Won't even send some people over to help. Not very happy about the whole situation. Anyway, Monday is a big car show(Monte is not going), and picnic with the family. In the morning before the show, stopping off at some places to give our respect to our fallen soldiers.

My Father Inlaw was a world war II vet. Was one of the ones who stormed the beaches of Normandy. He just passed away at 99 this past December.

He was in a Veterans Nursing Home. About 2 years ago a Buffalo New York TV station had a segment honoring everyone in there.

There are those brave men passing away more and more every year. Anytime I know of one around us,I always make sure that we recognize them properly(American Legion). We have a Veterans Cemetery in Bath N.Y.,next to the Veteran's hospital. We have a motorcycle  pride ride each year, and stop by to visit with the veteran's. Makes my day to see them smiling and telling us of when they came back,1st thing was to buy a motorcycle.

Not to show any disrespect for all the all those that have served. I was only in 1 little skirmish off the coast of Vietnam. I can't imagine the HUGE JEUVOS of those in big conflicts, Normandy, Battle of the Bulge and so on. Sad that we only honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice one day in a year.

Anyway, nice car show, about 100 cars, 0 Montes and about 30 Vettes 🤮 🤣 Probably the most interesting was a little triumph with a V8 stuffed under the hood. I know nothing about British cars but I bet that little potato chip was fast as heck 🤣

It would be a "crisp", not a potato chip in the English vernacular. I bet that little crisp was fast as heck. :k

Participating in the Smithtown Fire Department’s 101 year annual Memorial Day Parade. Both my son Dennis (Club member) my wife Pam (Ladies Auxiliary) and myself will be present and participating with the Hauppauge Fire Department. We are all HFD members and a neighboring FD. Afterward upon returning back to Headquarters we hold our own Memorial Day ceremony and service for our members that have passed and a BBQ afterwards for the members and their families. A small sacrifice to honor those who have served to maintain our freedom. We thank all of our Club members who have served in any branch of the Military.
