That’s the question does anything go there? This has been a very long process complete frame off repair last month was 19 years. I have pictures when car was torn down can’t see if it had anything there before. I was coming to Somerset before it was cancelled to see other members Montes to see if anything does go there. It will not hurt nothing but if something goes there I would like to replace it. It looks like the square hole plug on fire wall for the th400 kick down wiring

I looked at 2 71’s and the hole is there but nothing in it.

Nothing goes in that square hole.

Also note that Montes did not have the plastic cowl grilles when new. Many people add them though as they are listed in catalogs as a Monte part.

Montelishi has one as well.... But it doesn't look like it was stamped like all the rest of the holes.

Centering point for the piece in the stamping machine ????

Thank you to all of you. That’s what I love about the site and the club someone has had or dealing with the same issues and someone has the answers and willing to help

Greg,

I am glad to hear your were planning to hit the Eastern Meet in Kentucky to check out the cars there.  We will have a lot of First Gen Monte's coming to Carlisle for the meet that is there very soon.  We can still hook you up with a room in Carlisle.  I guarantee it will be worth the trip.  There will be several unrestored ones there that you could check out for originality.
