Cuzzyn Posted June 10 Posted June 10 Wanted to say hello and thanks for having me. Lurked around for a few months while researching what kind of car I wanted. Been wanting an old car since a kid watching my cousin build a couple camaros. Montes grabbed my attention as a youngster watching #3 rip up the track. But wanted an older model now that I can "afford" it (yea right) lol. After about 18 months of looking decided on 1st Gen MC , focused my attention on them 5 months ago and stumbled across this beauty a couple weeks ago. Finally got me one!! Down the rabbit hole I go....willingly. All original no ,major rust , interior is great and runs like a clock. 350 17 Quote

420ponies Posted June 10 Posted June 10 Welcome to the FGMCC! Nice looking Monte ! I know it's a 1st Gen, but what year? That will look great for the Cruisin' the Coast this fall for sure. We need to hear the story as to how and where you "found " it. 2 Quote
Rob Peters Posted June 10 Posted June 10 Jake, welcome aboard the boards, We hope you like what you see here and decide to become a full fledged dues paying member of the club. From what I can see in the picture, you got a real GEM there. The only thing I can see wrong is it is only 1 picture, ease show us more and more info on the car such as miles, year (I don't see a round medallion on the hood spear so I am guessing 70 or 72) any rust, how it is equipped, etc WE LOVE PICTURES, LOTS OF THEM! rob 5 Quote

Definitely a goal for Cruisin . Actually brought the wife last year to test her temperament on taking the plunge before purchasing a vehicle...lol. needless to say it went well. I actually had a guy offer me a screaming deal on a 73 Chevelle but after attending Cruisin I really didn't want one as there were too many plus it was setup for track. I was looking for a cruiser. Went look at a 63 Olds Starfire but talk myself out of it once I started researching parts and repairs. Had the TV on one day watching Counts Customs and he had a beautiful 1st Gen Monte that caught my eye. Started researching those and stumbled across this website. It helped make my decision as well to focus my search for a 1st Gen. Looked in all the usual places and found some nice rigs but not specifically in my price range. Stumbled across Hagerty Marketplace and found my car with no reserve auction and pulled the trigger. In essence this club helped me make my decision and I think they are gorgeous cars. 8 Quote

I'm sure there will be questions as I'm no mechanic but not scared to turn a wrench. In the process of making the wish list. First thing is getting this ac up and running. South Louisiana has been brutal recently. I sweat when I think of going outside. 😆 3 2 Quote
Dtret Posted June 10 Posted June 10 Thank you Jake for joining the group. As with me it took me all of 2 weeks to pay the dues. I sent a check through snail mail so that was probably half the time. Too much information on this site to, in good conscience, expect if for free. I’m most certainly glad I joined and would still pay even if I didn’t have Monte’s anymore. The group has given me too much for a measly 25 bucks a year. 4 Quote
