The main thing about seam sealers is there are a couple of different types. I personally prefer the urethane based seam sealers. Another concern is some seam sealers say direct to metal sure require a etch primer or epoxy  primer for proper adhesion. I prefer to use a epoxy primer let it dry completely then lightly scuff primer then apply seam sealers. You also need to let seam sealer completely dry before applying any top coats
