1970 with 4 Season AC. When the AC is on, all of the vents flow cold air including the defroster and heater outlets. Is this normal? If not, is a vacuum actuator is at fault? Which actuator would it be?  I suppose that to replace the actuactor, I would have to remove the heater box.  Any comments would be appreciated.

A actuator is possibility but also can be a vacuum leak. That is a vacuum operated system possible switch possible vacuum ball or cracks in hoses but definitely some type of vacuum leak

I agree with a vacuum leak.

Full AC should only come out the rearward facing vents, and on Bi-Level, it should come out the rearward facing vents and the floor vents.

I haven't looked at my HVAC box since I installed a brand-new heater core in it in 2017, so I don't remember which or how many vacuum control door modules there are on it.

My car is still in the process of getting painted right now, so it doesn't get driven anywhere yet.

Don’t quote me but I think there are three on the box, one in the kick panel and one on the cowl. And a lot of hoses. My guess is one popped off.

I think there are 2 on the box, one in the cowl, and one behind the passenger kick panel. I also could be wrong.

Jim is right, 2 on the box.  One of those 2 on the box, is actually inside of it. I recently had to replace it because it was bad on John's car.

Anyone have a parts source for those actuators? Ever since I dropped the Blueprint 350 in my 72 I can hear the door open when I accelerate and close when I let off the gas.

Here's the one for inside the box itself. Came from 'Old Air Products'. They said it was cheaper to order it from Amazon, than directly from them because Amazon picks it up from them. Find the part number you need, and google it, then decide what's the best deal.

I clicked on their  Amazon 'Store'.... 7 full pages of parts.

Lot of places carry them to be honest. Google something like "1970 Chevelle A/C vacuum actuator' and a lot of results will pop up. Summit, RestoParts, Parts Place, etc.

Joe i would think that part can swap with a Chevelle part so it might also be in the Chevelle books. Right??

I usually use the term 'Chevelle' when searching for parts common to both, otherwise you'll typically get limited results using 'Monte Carlo'.

its the same heater box, the Monte and Chevelle. Either source would work.
