DragCat Posted June 15 Posted June 15 Yes ive posted this before, and yes probably too late for Carlisle. But some car shows now require fire extinguishers with your ride. And for all you cruisers / long haul drivers. Your normal extinguisher, isn't auto friendly, and only has a couple of seconds of spray. Below is what I carry in the Monte, and after a conversation with Dennis C last year, in the daily driver. Ive had a fuel line break, luckily non catastrophic, but ive seen others NOT so fortunate 🙃 https://www.summitracing.com/parts/efe-el40050 6 3 Quote
GRAY 70 Monte Carlo Posted June 15 Posted June 15 Thank you for sharing the link to the product you use looks very compact and very good 3 Quote
Dtret Posted June 15 Posted June 15 The meet in Ohio requires fire extinguishers. Keep that in mind to all who are going there. 4 Quote

Mostly any ABC extinguisher is fine for car shows. Must be with the car, visible, doesn't have to be permanently mounted. But good question if Ohio has specific requirements 3 Quote
Robnhood Posted June 15 Posted June 15 I have 2 mounted in my Monte. One just in front of the driver seat on the floor, and it is barely visible or noticable unles you are looking for it. I have a second one mounted in the trunk just inside on the little ledge. Both are very easy to get to. A while back, I heard of a few car shows in my after that wanted you to have them, so I figured it wasn't a bad idea. 11 hours ago, DragCat said: Yes ive posted this before, and yes probably too late for Carlisle. Dtret Posted June 15 Posted June 15 In Ohio they would like it to be outside the car, at least that’s the way it was last year. 2 Quote
Leghome Posted June 15 Posted June 15 I usually have it laying in the trunl or standing by the drivers side front wheel 2 Quote
FrankOC Posted June 15 Posted June 15 I carry an Element in the glove box. I have GM labeled traditional one in the trunk for looks 5 Quote
Scott S. Posted June 15 Posted June 15 ABC is the generally accepted unit.... 5 Lb bottles last about 30-40 seconds. "Purple K" is a fuel specific extinguisher. There's also a "clean agent" Halotron, but they're pretty pricey. My personal preference is a 5 lb CO2. It's a lot cleaner than the ABCs. 2 Quote
7tonemonte Posted June 15 Posted June 15 https://elementfire.com link to the companies site. I got a few of these about a year ago and they are very compact, and had great reviews from people who have used them. Generally I think about 90 seconds worth of use. One in my car, one in my sons, one in garage in the magnetic holders. I feel safer anyway 2 Quote
DragCat Posted June 16 Author Posted June 16 Some classic car groups had issues with the "element" product for different issues with their insurance companies in the past. I didnt see any updated policy changes when I last checked. The link I posted was the smaller one, larger link below. You can pick up the ABC style relatively cheap at the big box stores for the car shows, I have them around the house and garage. But for my classics I wanted something a little bit more https://www.summitracing.com/parts/efe-el40100?rrec=true 3 Quote
