ejw71 Posted February 3, 2004 Posted February 3, 2004 My '71 has an FM radio. Would like to change it to stock AM/FM/Casette. Did 1st Gens have a AM/FM/Casette option? Thanks, Ed
mjs-13 Posted February 3, 2004 Posted February 3, 2004 No cassettes, only 8 tracks. Go to a swap meet and look around for an old Pioneer cassette radio. They made AM-FM Cassettes in the 80's that will perfectly fit the hole in the dash with no cutting. Generally pick them up for $5.00. You can also call Carl who owns Custom Auto Sound in California. He makes a nice product although it ain't cheap!
Hoodicoff1 Posted February 3, 2004 Posted February 3, 2004 If you need a shaft cassett player, I have 3 of them, I have a Pioneer for 40 bucks, a toshiba for 35 and a coustic deck, with an auxilary in for plugging in a portable cd player for 50 bucks US, they all have 4 speaker outputs and a rear preout for an amplifier
ejw71 Posted February 3, 2004 Author Posted February 3, 2004 Thanks fellas. Will keep a lookout for an old Pioneer AM/FM casette. Ed
Hoodicoff1 Posted February 3, 2004 Posted February 3, 2004 Ill ship on of them to ya, they all have digital tuners on them too
Guest Posted February 5, 2004 Posted February 5, 2004 You can also go with hiddenaudio.I think they ad on www.horsepowertv.com .That's one way to stay stock appearing but have modern sounds otherwise go with Custom Autosound. The '81 T/A I had had a factory 8-track when I bought it.
