Door edge guard installation help

I finally found a set of door edge guards for my car. I know the just slide on, but is there any tricks to protect the paint??

Coat the edge of the door where they are going to be placed with a little bit of Dawn Dish soap.  Nice and slippery and will easily wash off.

If you can't get them on by hand, a rubber mallet will work without damaging them.  I'll say that it always makes me nervous getting those on but I do have them on my car and think they are a good idea.

They were the last original option that was missing from my car. I got lucky and found a set on ebay. I thought about leaving them in the original package but I think the belong on the car. I remember when I worked at a dealership years ago we would put them on but if not carefully we could chip the paint. I will try to put them on this weekend.

I would dish soap the door and the guard just to be doubly safe!
