Does anyone know where I can find the clips/fasteners for the rear trim that goes below the trunk lid and above the bumper (see attached)? Thank you...any info is much appreciated.

Can't help you with the clips, sorry.

Just curious where you got that trim from, it appears to be in outstanding condition. If you had it re-done, where did you send it? Thanks!

Hi Joe...I actually pulled that photo online from a company called Konik's Klassiks (https://koniksklassiks.com/), they sell some MC restored trim. My actual pieces do look as good as the photo or better, but I took mine to Norm at Shine On Me http://shineonmetrim.com/info/contact_info.php (I live in Carlsbad, CA and he's up the road in San Clemente). He did my stainless steel that goes around the windshield and rear window and his work is amazing. He does work for guys sending in stuff from all over the USA. If you call him tell him Jon Prasuhn with the 72 Monte Carlo referred you.

Thanks for the info Jon.

I have a guy here that did all my stainless trim, but didn't even ask about the aluminum because I thought it's plated/anodized. I'll look into it, Thank you!

Konick is a member and a very good guy to deal with. He sells tons of Monte parts not just trim. FYI.

I've got parts from Leo & talked to him in the past. Very happy with his service. I'll call him about the trim as well. Not sure if he plates the pieces based on the description on his website, but I'll call. Thx Dennis

Any luck finding those clips?  I need to replace mine.  They are a rectangular plastic strip that lock on a metal tang, if you will..

I searched the AuVeCo book for clips for the rear for my 72 molding and found nothing in the catalog that would work

Morning!  Did anyone find these clips?  I am trying to remake something similar.  V1.0 shown in the pic.  Work in progress until I perfect it or find them somewhere.

Nothing available yet for that trim piece, as far as I've researched in the past. Looked thru a bunch of the catalogs, nothing close, (like the Auveco 8400 clip works great on the lower rocker trim piece, couldn't find anything for the 72 rear pieces.).

Joe,

Ok.  Going to bend these this weekend to match the original ones then install my rear molding on my ‘72.  Had the shop cut some extra clips figuring someone else would need some.  Will let you know how they work.

Here is V1.0 all bent with a bolt that has a short cap (not welded on)IMG_9718.thumb.jpeg.3788cceb44f36a657c5ce4e3ce13b50e.jpegIMG_9721.thumb.jpeg.13cd07dd6ba841f44fd3f4a029df240d.jpegIMG_9722.thumb.jpeg.f33a13d70a914276594200db553f6ff9.jpegIMG_9724.thumb.jpeg.3cd3c1b133e35bf85183cfb7f891e79a.jpegIMG_9726.thumb.jpeg.2183bda66b1a765a1101cd5e7badbabe.jpegIMG_9728.thumb.jpeg.f25aa591e9c86a0c60f6a10ba737b103.jpeg

Looks awesome. I see a profit center here. How many clips are needed per car ( all 3 pieces)?

(6) total.  (2) per molding.  I have the .dxf file I can send if anyone has access to a laser or plasma table.  The bolts I just happened to find at the local Ace Hardware.

Made some extra clips in case I run into anyone at a show that needs one or two.

Nicely done, I have a 70 so none needed here, but I love that people have the skills to Fabricate parts for these cars.

I put four on each side of center,  the long molding was not not secured enough to the back of the car for me

Larry,

You read my mind.  The rear center area was really weathered to we cut those tabs off and painted it.  That what started my search for these clips.  Adding 4 as well.

Making the bends for the rest right now.  IMG_9733.thumb.jpeg.954ab425f0d00e3b1f15985ed583f89e.jpeg

Actually I only used two on each side if I would have had the plastic like original I would have used four

Ok, last post.  Drilled out 4 more holes to add the clips.  Here is how it came out.

(The rear moldings are pretty hammered.  We did what we could to clean, straighten and paint but the previous owner was fast and furious with the sander and apparently didn’t pull the molding off while he was working)IMG_9750.thumb.jpeg.ba9201c2abe68d15968046752facc2e3.jpegIMG_9759.thumb.png.4a38898399d25e29f49a6035ee34a449.pngIMG_9755.thumb.jpeg.0abf2d9809f53292ad1682c409c6de56.jpegIMG_9758.thumb.jpeg.cf6f86e6fc5c13a6916763ff8e6f9881.jpeg
